Genshin Impact is a free-to-play, open-world, action RPG, gacha game released in September 2020 on PC, PS4, Android, and iOS. The game takes place in the rich world of Teyvat, home to seven different nations that are all tied to a specific element. Even though the player follows the story of the Traveler, the protagonist, they can play as many other intriguing heroes.

Meet Qiqi, referred to as the "Icy Resurrection." She controls the element of Cryo and attacks with a Sword. Qiqi, a five-star character, is dead — well, undead. A zombie resurrected by magical beings and gods called the adepti, Qiqi now works at the Bubu Pharmacy in Liyue Harbor under the care of a strange man named Baizhu. There's a lot of mystery surrounding this reanimated cutie, but here are a few details players might not know about her.

Updated September 24, 2021 by Nahda Nabiilah: Genshin Impact tells an engaging story in the universe of Teyvat. The events in the story are slowly revealed with new details and new characters, as every few months brings a new update. While this may seem to only apply to newer characters, old ones also may have their lore expanded upon as the game grows more complex. For example, Hu Tao's character story revealed more about Qiqi and Baizhu. Considering this, we've updated this article to include more things players should know about Qiqi.

15 Qiqi According To The Official Website

Genshin Impact Qiqi Official

According to the game's official website, Qiqi is quite forgetful and must constantly keep notes order to remember anything at all. She has to constantly remind herself of people she meets and befriends because of how poor her memory is (since her brain is rotten and all). Qiqi must also order herself around whenever she wants or needs to do something, anything for that matter. Fortunately, unlike other zombies, she is her own master.

In addition to little rituals when it comes to trying to remember things, Qiqi carries around a notebook in which she writes all her responsibilities. Qiqi tries her best to improve her memory, even though she forgets to check her notebook from time to time.

14 Qiqi According To The Game

Genshin Impact Qiqi Wish

According to Qiqi's in-game character attributes, she's an apprentice and herb picker at Bubu Pharmacy. She does not talk much, only when necessary, yet acts polite with her customers at the pharmacy.

However, Qiqi's friendly personality changes when Hu Tao, the director of the Wangshend Funeral Parlor, is around. Hu Tao told her that she has a "punchable face" and even mentioned wanting to lock her in a fridge or bury her underground. Qiqi does not keep it cool when it comes to Hu Tao.

13 Qiqi Does Not Look Like A Typical Zombie

Genshin Impact Qiqi Full Body

When most people picture a zombie, they imagine rotten flesh, torn-off skin, and patches of dried blood everywhere. Qiqi, on the other hand, has flawless (albeit pale) skin. She has purple medium-length hair, pink eyes, and black-painted fingernails. She's also in fantastic shape; apparently, she does calisthenics every day to fight off the rigor mortis.

Qiqi does not even dress like a zombie — there are no dirty rags in her outfit. She wears a purple frock, a purple beret with a pink tassel, white stockings (that look like bandages), and black heels. Qiqi is accessorized with a handful of talismans pinned all over her body and has her Vision (the crystal orb) attached to her side.

12 Qiqi's Chilling, Creepy Talents

Genshin Impact Qiqi Character Profile

Most players will be familiar with all of Qiqi's skills and attacks in battle. Some, though, might not expect how eager for battle she can be, considering her cute appearance.

On her days off from working at the pharmacy, Qiqi adventures around bashing in some Hilichurl skulls. Through the power of her talisman, she encases her enemies in ice using her Cryo element, and then stabs them in the face with her trusty Sword.

11 She's Quite The Bookworm/Scrollworm

Genshin Impact Qiqi Stare

To level up a character's talents, the player needs to acquire numerous materials. When it comes to Qiqi, she likes Teachings of Prosperity, Guide to Prosperity, and Philosophies of Prosperity. Qiqi also prefers Divining Scroll, Sealed Scroll, and Forbidden Curse Scroll, and she is a fan of the Tail of Boreas. It's fair to say that Qiqi spends her share of time buried in scrolls to read.

When it comes to Ascension, Qiqi wants lots of Shivada Jade (Sliver, Fragment, Chunk, Gemstone), Hoarfrost Core, Violetgross, and...more Scrolls (Divining, Sealed, Forbidden Curse). These scrolls are magical, old, ominous, and ancient. It is rumored that those who read them (that is, if they can actually decipher them) go mad.

10 Qiqi Uses Pristina Nola

Genshin Impact Qiqi Zoom Out

Pristina Nola is the name of Qiqi's constellation, the character progression system. Each constellation is unlocked with a Stella Fortuna (which is only obtainable through pulling duplicates via Wishes). Pristina Nola is Latin for "The Ancient Bell."

If the player decides to invest in her, Qiqi can suck even more life out of her frozen opponents and actually revive her fallen allies. From levels one to six, they are Ascetics of Frost, Frozen to the Bone, Ascendant Praise, Divine Suppression, Crimson Lotus Bloom, and Rite of Resurrection.

9 Her Similarities To The Jiangshi Myth

Genshin Impact Qiqi Bubu Pharmacy

In Chinese legends and folklore, a jiangshi is a hopping zombie (or vampire). These kinds of reanimated corpses are usually depicted as stiff in movement and dressed in clothes from the Qing Dynasty. They get around by hopping and have their arms outstretched (much like a classic zombie). Jiangshi kill living creatures and absorb their life force (or their "qi").

Clearly, Qiqi very much resembles a jiangshi, except for the hopping around part. That's why she works out every single day, to continue being able to walk and run around.

8 Qiqi Doesn't Like Heat

Qiqi don't like heat

During hot days, Qiqi claims to feel "disgusting," and prefers to stay indoors when the sun is out. This is most likely because corpses tend to decompose faster in heat, giving off foul smells.

This also means that Qiqi's Vision fits her perfectly well. With her Cryo Vision, Qiqi would be able to constantly cool herself down whenever necessary. However, Qiqi's priority with her Vision is to protect the people she cares about. The zombie may be utterly forgetful, but her friends can always rely on her whenever they're in trouble.

7 Qiqi Cannot Taste Her Own Food

Genshin Impact Qiqi Cute

No Tomorrow is a special food item that the player has a chance to cook up by making Come and Get It with Qiqi. It is her favorite dish and specialty, made with raw meat, fish, rice, and tofu.

According to the game, though, Qiqi has no sense of taste. Considering that she is undead, it's likely that her taste buds simply do not work anymore. Perhaps her preference for the dish stems from fond memories when she was alive.

6 Qiqi Loves Coconut Milk

Qiqi loves Cocogoat milk

In one of Genshin Impact Archon Quests, Qiqi asks the players to hunt a "legendary adeptibeast," the Cocogoat. Unfortunately, no one knows what this beast is. Even Qiqi rains the Traveler with "Wakaranai's," claiming that she doesn't know what it looks like, where to find it, nor where it came from. This is especially puzzling for Zhongli, as he usually knows everything.

In the end, Qiqi reveals that Cocogoat produces Coconut Milk. Qiqi loves Coconut Milk, even though she can't taste it. The Traveler had to burst her bubble to tell Qiqi the truth about Coconut Milk. Fortunately, Qiqi probably won't remember.

5 Her Tragic Death

Genshin Impact Qiqi Flowers

While out picking herbs as a young girl, Qiqi got lost and wound up accidentally trespassing in the realm of the adepti. She injured her leg in a nasty fall, and limped over to a cavern to rest and bandage up her wound. Then, Qiqi heard strange sounds that did not seem human, and was suddenly caught in the middle of a crossfire between the adepti and demons. Seeing her as innocent, the adepti put their energy into her and saved her life. Unfortunately, Qiqi went on a rampage upon being revived and was sealed in amber by the Moutain Shaper (a bird god) to stop her.

She awakened for real hundreds of years later, after humans discovered her. They tried bringing her to the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor for burial (thus acquainting her with Hu Tao), but she broke free of her amber prison and escaped. Eventually, Qiqi met Baizhu, and the rest is history.

4 Her Animosity With Hu Tao

Qiqi hates Hu Tao

Hu Tao is the Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. As eccentric as she is, Hu Tao actually cares a great deal about the balance of life and death. While she may not be the best in marketing, she exceeds expectations when it comes to proper funerals.

Hu Tao saw burying Qiqi is an act of kindness. She thought that by doing so, Qiqi would gain eternal peace — but Qiqi didn't agree. After a while, Hu Tao understood that Qiqi shouldn't be forced to move on, as the zombie has a strong will to live. Since then, Hu Tao has stopped trying to bury Qiqi. Unfortunately, Qiqi is already scarred from the experience. As forgetful as she is, Qiqi managed to etch it in her mind to remember Hu Tao's "punch-able" face.

3 Qiqi's Suspicion Of Baizhu

Qiqi suspects Baizhu

Baizhu takes Qiqi in his care when he finds her in Liyue. Sadly, unlike Hu Tao who is truly sincere in her actions, Baizhu did this for his own personal pursuit. Qiqi may be young, but she's smart enough to figure out that Baizhu had a motive when he took her in.

This motive is revealed in Genshin Impact 1.3 after Hu Tao is released. Hu Tao knows that Baizhu is in pursuit of eternal life, which would ruin the balance of natural order. For Baizhu, Qiqi is a living (or dying?) proof of immortality. This further pushed Hu Tao to try and grant Qiqi eternal peace, free from the suffering of the living.

2 Qiqi Wants A Finch As A Pet

Qiqi

Finches are common birds found all over Teyvat, including around Bubu Pharmacy in Liyue. This led to Qiqi seeing them a lot, and the little zombie loves them. It can be seen by how Qiqi compares Yaoyao to finches, claiming that Yaoyao is "cute."

Qiqi is busy with exercises at night and herb gathering during the day, so she probably doesn't have time for a hobby. However, when asked about this, Qiqi would say that she wishes to have a pet, like a finche. It's probably best if Qiqi doesn't have pets, though. One can never know when she'd forget to look at her notebook.

1 Qiqi Was Born On March 3

Genshin Impact Qiqi Looking Out

Qiqi's birthday is on March 3, which would make her a Pisces. If the player interacts with her on her birthday, she will say one of the following:

  • "Today is my birthday. I have it written down, so I can remember."
  • "Birthday cake? No need. I don't know how many candles I'd need, anyway. Gifts... nevermind."
  • Or, "Birthday... I want to spend mine with you. With you by my side, it's the best birthday. No need for anything else."

Genshin Impact is now available for Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5, with a Switch version in development.
