Pyro is one of the seven Elements in Genshin Impact that players have access to. Pyro can match perfectly with either Hydro or Cryo to maximize its own damage. Some players think dealing Melt by combining Cryo and Pyro is the way to go, but because of the lingering effect of the Hydro Element, Pyro users can trigger continuous Vaporize and have overall more damage.

Of all these Elements, Pyro is the most damaging, and many of the game's Pyro characters lean toward DPS roles. However, not all characters are made equal, so here's our tier list of the Pyro characters in Genshin Impact.

Xianyun's best weapons in Genshin Impact come with ATK and Energy Recharge, which maximizes her buff and recharges her Elemental Burst faster.

Updated on February 2, 2024, by Nahda Nabiilah: As Genshin Impact’s story progresses and more characters, Elements, and Mechanics make it into the gameplay, some units fall from grace while some rise to become crowned Meta. When it comes to the Pyro characters’ tier list, four new strong additions join the roster to make it 14 Pyro characters in Genshin Impact. One made it straight to S-tier while another two settled for A-tier with one of them having the potential to become S-tier later. As for Dehya, she went straight down to the C-tier.

S-Tier

Bennett

Genshin Impact characters - Bennett Amber Traveler and Eula

Bennett is one of the best 4-star characters in Genshin Impact, one of the best all-rounders, and a fantastic addition to almost any team. Although his damage isn't stellar, it's the versatility of his skills that makes Bennett shine. Passion Overload, his Elemental Skill, is a fire-strike with a quick cooldown and three tiers of charge. Passion Overload is most useful for charging Bennett's powerful Elemental Burst, Fantastic Voyage.

Fantastic Voyage creates an inspiration circle that persists even after Bennett is swapped out, providing not only healing but also a major attack bonus. This allows Bennett to both buff and heal the party's main DPS without even needing to be on the field.

Lyney

yelan and lyney weapons in genshin impact

Fontaine started strong with the introduction of Lyney in Genshin Impact. A 5-star bow user who can taunt and deliver massive damage to enemies. Not only that, Lyney’s mechanics are a little different from other Pyro units in Genshin Impact.

Where most Pyro users want other Elements to react within their teams, Lyney’s Fourth Ascension Bonus grants him a massive damage buff only if his team was built from mostly Pyro units and his opponents were affected by Pyro. This unique playstyle created an opportunity for players to include some of the best Pyro Support/Sub-DPS in the game like Bennett and Xiangling in every Lyney team in Genshin Impact.

Hu Tao

Genshin Impact Hu Tao

Hu Tao is one of the best characters in Genshin Impact. When paired with the likes of Xingqiu or Yelan, Hu Tao can cause a Pyro chaos with her charged attacks, leaving everything behind her in flames.

It's normal for 4-star Genshin Impact characters to require C6 to fully perform, but what about Gaming?

On Genshin Impact’s 3.0 update, the Hydro Resonance got buffed by giving the team a 25% HP increase. This change indirectly buffed Hu Tao and other characters that depend on their HP to deal damage. Additionally, it made Hu Tao, Yelan, and Xingqiu a very strong Meta team in any Genshin Impact content.

Xiangling

xiangling in genshin impact

Xiangling is the best Sub-DPS Pyro character in Genshin Impact. As a Sub-DPS, she shines when working alongside compatible units that enable and trigger Elemental reactions with her. Xiangling’s Elemental Skill throws out a fire-breathing panda to deal persistent Pyro damage, with her Burst, Pyronado, surrounds the active character with a whirling flame tornado. This tornado persists if Xiangling is switched out, allowing other characters to capitalize on the potential Elemental combos and heavy Pyro damage.

A-Tier

Chevreuse

Genshin Impact Details Chevreuse's Kit

Chevreuse has some major potential to become one of the best Supports in Genshin Impact if the game keeps introducing new characters that rely on the Overload reaction. Once players meet the limitation of only including Pyro and Electro users in her team, Chevreuse unlocks some crazy buffs and debuffs for the whole team. She’s already doing great with her small group of dedicated teams, so, imagine when more characters start to synergize with her.

Gaming

genshin impact mistakes players make while playing gaming

As a 4-star main DPS, Gaming is very good in his role and can dish out some insane damage with his Plunge attacks, especially on C6 where his Crit DMG is increased. He also synergizes well with some of the best buffers in the game, making him a force to be reckoned with. If that’s not enough, Gaming’s Pyro vision also unlocks some of the best reactions and resonance in Genshin Impact.

Diluc

Genshin Impact Diluc

For a while, Diluc has held onto his crown as the king of DPS in Genshin Impact. He's achieved this with his lethal, shield-crushing claymore, the highest base attack Power in the game, and a high Critical Rate. Although his base attack is no longer on top of the list, Diluc remains a decent DPS.

His Elemental Skill, Searing Onslaught, can be woven into normal attack combos, making for a deadly mix. To cap it all, his Elemental Burst requires only 40 Energy to activate and cool down in 12 seconds. Nowadays, Diluc has a really promising comeback since Xianyun allows him to shine where many other characters fall flat. Diluc’s great scaling with Plunge attacks and Pyro infusion is perfectly paired with Xianyun’s Elemental Burst which allows him to jump higher.

B-Tier

Yoimiya

Genshin Impact Yoimiya

Very few bow users in Genshin Impact are as unique as Yoimiya is. That said, given the novelty of her playstyle, Yoimiya does have a mix of upsides and downsides. Generally, players will want to use Yoimiya as a mix of a DPS and a small off-field DPS.

Her Skill infuses her Normal attacks with Pyro for some time, granting her most of her DPS output. As for her Burst, it works for an off-field Pyro application. However, there are a few downsides that players should keep in mind; sometimes, her Normal attack will have difficulty hitting moving targets.

Thoma

thoma in genshin impact

Thoma makes for a good shielder in Genshin Impact because both his Elemental Skill and Burst activate a decent shield. But other than that, Thoma doesn’t have much use in the current Meta.

Chevreuse is an easy-to-master character in Genshin Impact - if players pay attention to certain aspects of her kit.

As a Pyro unit, Thoma lacks the ability and timing to trigger proper Pyro reactions with other units because of how delayed his Pyro attacks are, so it’s hard for him to become a Pyro enabler as his talents intended. However, in Dendro + Hydro team compositions, it’s another story. Thoma’s delayed Pyro attacks make for great applicators that trigger Burgeon after hitting a Bloom Core created by Dendro meeting Hydro.

Klee

klee's constellations cover in genshin impact

Klee is a Pyro DPS with an energetic outlook and a passion for explosives. As a Catalyst user, she prefers to strike from range, with her normal attack throwing out Pyro explosives. Her Elemental Skill is Jumpy Dumpty, an explosive-filled plushy that she can throw to bounce toward enemies and then Burst into 8 proximity-activated landmines. This move can do huge damage with Klee's naturally high attack Power, as can her Elemental Burst, Sparks 'n' Splash, which summons auto-attacking Sparks to scorch nearby enemies. While she’s currently staying in the B-Tier, she still has the potential to be much more in the right skillful hands.

C-Tier

Yanfei

yanfei in genshin impact

Pyro Catalysts in Genshin Impact have a trend of being good DPS characters so far, with Yanfei offering similar destruction to Klee. Her normal attacks build up charges, which increase the strength of her charged attacks. Of course, charged attacks will be the main source of her damage.

Nonetheless, she also has the support benefits when she unlocks her C4. Players will be able to operate Yanfei as a viable Pyro shielder and buffer in their team compositions. Her shield is surprisingly good if players stacked as much HP as possible on her, and her buff comes from wielding Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers, which will grant a whopping 48% attack to the next character that joins the field after Yanfei.

Dehya

dehya pyro damage build in genshin impact

Unfortunately, for everyone who was waiting so eagerly to play with Dehya in Genshin Impact, she was built to be underwhelming and unable to add anything to any character or team in the game. Her entire kit was built to sustain a lot of damage in a game that only asks you to race with time without any care for your team's condition. In the end, there’s still some slight hope that Dehya might become better in the future Natlan updates.

D-Tier

Xinyan

Xinyan animation in Genshin Impact

Despite having a high base attack Power in Genshin Impact, Xinyan struggles to settle into a role. On paper, she looks like a Main DPS character, with an Elemental Burst that only does damage. However, her Sweeping Fervor Elemental Skill creates a shield and scales from her Defense stat. For this reason, players think they should increase her Defense, harming her overall DPS.

Gaming may be a 4-star character, but at C6 with a proper team, his performance as a DPS in Genshin Impact is actually sufficient.

The best way to use Xinyan is by collecting her Constellations first, then stacking as much ATK, Physical DMG, and CRIT DMG as possible. Doing this will maximize her Burst damage and grants her a little viability on the field.

Amber

Genshin Impact Amber

Widely regarded, and derided, as the worst character in Genshin Impact, Amber has the misfortune of being the first character that players recruit. Although her Bow and Pyro abilities are useful for early puzzles, her actual combat skills are terrible. Her Elemental Skill has a long cooldown and does very little damage. As for her Burst, while it’s decent, it’s still outperformed by other Pyro users in Genshin Impact. Even Amber’s Constellations can’t save her kit, since they add the most random passives that don’t do anything for her and her team.
