2020 saw the rise of many popular multiplayer titles such as Call of Duty: Warzone, Among Us, and Fall Guys. These titles have been continuously updated and expanded upon since their launch, garnering new fans while keeping older players active. One such multiplayer title has been shown to have legs, quietly growing larger and larger since launch. Almost a year after its debut, a new chart showcasing the growth of Genshin Impact has been posted on Reddit.

Genshin Impact is a free-to-play action RPG developed and published by game studio, miHoYo. Although the game was released for free, it features a gacha system where players can pay to obtain randomize characters and other resources in the game. Although sometimes a point of controversy, the gacha system has earned title lots of money. By the time March 2021 hit, six months after Genshin Impact was released, the game has already accumulated north of 1 billion in revenue.

It doesn’t seem as though the free-to-play title is stopping anytime soon either. A chart that estimates the growth of the Genshin Impact player base was posted on Reddit. In it, it can be clearly viewed that the average monthly amount of players has been steadily increasing ever since its launch. As it stands, the estimate shows that Genshin Impact has around an average of 50 million users an impressive amount for a new free-to-play title.

That being said, this chart is still an estimate and should be treated as such. The chart was posted by LuminesPlayThing over on Reddit who elaborates on the estimations by saying that they ran through multiple statistic websites where they enter information about the title through extensive research. They have created an algorithm that uses values available on the market to create the estimated data.

If the data being presented on the chart is mostly true, this is quite the accomplishment for Genshin Impact. It makes sense considering the large and frequent amount of content drops that the title has had over its first year as well as the overall positive critical reception. Genshin Impact has recently teased more content to be dropped which is sure to keep existing fans satisfied and potentially bring new ones in. It's not really a huge surprise that Genshin Impact’s popularity and the player base have been increasing, however, as the free-to-play title has been shown to break records with its sales.

As nice and frequent as the updates have been, Genshin Impact is still just in its first year of release. Now the challenge for the game is to keep its streak of success by creating new and engaging content for its millions of players. If they continue to do so, Genshin Impact will be a game that will still be talked about in the coming years.

Genshin Impact is out now for Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5.
