Genshin Impact fans are unhappy with the way the banner mechanics work, especially when they want to acquire a specific four-star character. The game's Limited Character Banners consist of four different characters, one five-star and three four-stars. Most updates nowadays feature double banners which allow players to pull for two different limited five-star characters at the same time.

Four-star characters are much easier to acquire considering that they run on a lower 10-wish pity which means that a drop is guaranteed within 10 wishes. In case a Genshin Impact cycle features two five-stars units, this pity is shared between the two banners.

A Reddit user named HereForGames has started an interesting discussion on the official Genshin Impact subreddit that gathered almost 12k upvotes. The post has pointed out a major flaw in the way the current gacha system works, at least when it comes to acquiring four-star characters. While they have a much lower pity, the drop odds are divided between the three featured characters which means that players can theoretically drop thousands of wishes without getting a specific four-star character. This can be especially frustrating when players want to acquire a certain constellation level for a character that completely transforms their playstyle like Bennett's C1 level which lifts the HP restriction on his damage Fantastic Voyage buff.

Fans have been proposing a couple of interesting solutions to this problem. The most popular one would require HoYoverse to implement a system similar to the Epitomized Path mechanic that is currently available on the Weapon Banner. It allows players to target a specific five-star weapon by using their Fate Points.

This would mean that whenever players don't get the desired four-star, they would get a Fate Point, and having a couple of these points would guarantee the next four-star drop to feature their chosen character. Some fans even pointed out that this system would be great for the less popular Standard Banner since it's currently almost impossible to acquire all constellation levels for a five-star character from this banner.

The constant addition of new five-star characters in Genshin Impact with every new version of the game caused HoYoverse to feature double banners in every new update. Many Travelers think that the game should follow a similar pattern with their four-star units as well.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
