Genshin Impact players are unhappy with the current four-star drop mechanics on the Limited Character Banner. The game runs on a gacha-based system that requires players to spend Intertwined or Acquaint Fates in order to wish on a banner that features a set of characters and weapons.

When it comes to rarity, Genshin Impact's playable roster can be divided into two main categories, five-star and four-star characters. Almost every new update in the game adds a new unit to the roster with the Dendro Archon Nahida and the new Cryo sword support Layla being the most recent additions.

Every Genshin Impact banner cycle includes one or two Limited Character Banners which feature one five-star unit and three four-star characters. Both types have a pity system that guarantees a new playable unit to drop within a certain number of wishes. While five-stars are much harder to acquire since they run on a 90-wish pity, players have a high chance to get a four-star character thanks to their 10-wish pity. However, Reddit user XxDonaldxX has pointed out a frustrating problem that players can run into when they want a specific four-star character drop.

The banner does not allow players to choose which character they want to drop next which means that sometimes it's actually easier to get the featured five-star than a specific four-star unit since the drop chances are divided between three characters. The Reddit user has proposed an interesting solution that works similarly to a drop mechanic that already exists on Genshin Impact's weapon banner. Players would be allowed to choose one of the three promotional characters which would drop within 30 wishes.

There is a chance that HoYoverse decides to implement a similar mechanic in the future since it already exists on another type of banner. Some fans claim that this is a much-needed quality-of-life change that would make level constellations much easier. The only way most four-star characters can compete with five-star units is by having their constellations maxed out. Some of the four-star characters like Bennett and Xiangling have a very high pick rate in most versions of the Spiral Abyss.

According to a couple of comments, the current Yae Miko and Childe double banner features one of the best four-star lineups in recent months. It includes the new Cryo user Layla, the Anemo catalyst Heizou, and the Pyro support Thoma. Unlike the previous banner that offered three four-stars that have been part of the game since release, all the characters in the current lineup are relatively new.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
