Genshin Impact's popularity cannot be understated, as players around the world love the free-to-play Gacha game. At least part of this is due to the constant influx of new Genshin Impact characters with interesting lore and stories, with major expansions taking place rather routinely as well. Many fans worldwide are looking forward to the release of Genshin Impact update 3.1 as it will expand the game even further.

However, fans in China have something else they are clearly enjoying in the meantime: the Genshin Impact x Pizza Hut collaboration. It's going on now and will last for two weeks. It features characters Eula and Amber in the Pizza Hut promotions, wearing aprons and other Pizza Hut-related gear, and there are some in-game rewards too. It has already proven so popular that police had to shut down at least one store due to crowd safety.

According to various online comments, it seems that every Pizza Hut store running this event has super long wait times, as Genshin Impact fans flock to the door. This has resulted in images of at least one store being shut down, though there are minor reports of other temporary closures, as the event takes place. China has been and is super strict regarding crowd safety, especially after the COVID pandemic began. By all accounts, it seems this is just a temporary closure based on the number of people at the store, and it would continue operations soon. There are a few details regarding this closure that are unknown, but Genshin Impact fans across social media seem to be talking about the collab and this closure.

It should be noted that Genshin Impact once held a KFC collaboration event too, which had a very similar presence. This was in March 2021, and because of this event, KFCs in Shanghai and Hangzhou were shut down for violating China's COVID-19 policies. Now, this doesn't seem to be as extreme, but given that events like these are still seeing massive lines and stores being shut down, it bodes well for Genshin Impact's popularity.

Fans interested in the event should keep an eye on more news like this, especially as the event continues. Perhaps it'll level on out from here, or it could continue to be as tumultuous for Genshin Impact fans and Pizza Hut consumers. It's hard to say for sure. Unfortunately, anyone outside China wanting to partake in the event will not be able to do so, as the collab is not taking place in other countries.

Genshin Impact is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is currently in development.
