Genshin Impact is a beautiful game visually, combining an anime style of art with cel-shading, sometimes referred to as toon-shading, to help bring its characters and the world of Teyvat to life. However, Genshin Impact fans may have noticed that one of their cutesy companions was with them when visiting one beach in South America.

Travellers are urged to explore the beautiful open-world environment of Teyvat in Genshin Impact. The adventure game, which falls into the gacha genre, allows players to use in-game currency to obtain virtual loot such as weapons, characters, and other resources as they level up and take on foes. Accompanied by a companion as they traverse the seven nations in search of their sibling, the character Paimon has become a beloved personality as well as the title’s media spokesperson since the game’s release in 2020.

On the official Genshin Impact subreddit, one user known as Hound1080 has uploaded a photo showing a sizable cast of Paimon sculpted entirely out of sand. Located next to the beach, her model can be seen sitting near the ocean with the caption reading "Just Another Day in Brazil." Sporting her usual attire, the model is also outfitted with the upside-down triquetra that is synonymous with Teyvat.

Commenters on the post have since marveled at the appearance of Paimon, with some questioning how the sculptor managed to mold her floating halo and crown which also seem to defy gravity. Other Redditors have since urged the creator to form a meal beside the design, a nod to "Emergency Food," a name largely assigned to Paimon by the fan base after in-game dialogue with Amber hints that should the player need to heal, their companion is small and annoying enough to sustain them.

It seems fitting that the sculpture resides idly by the beach since the player saves Paimon from drowning at the beginning of the game. With her character designed to float above water while accompanying the player thereon, it seems the model has captured the likeness of the dainty fairy-like companion as well as the heart of many fans. While not much is known about Paimon’s origin, other than that they cannot swim, she continues to be a point of fondness for enthusiasts of Genshin Impact.

Since the game’s release, and even during the beta development stage, Paimon has remained as the main mascot for Genshin Impact. This is not even the first time the character has been associated with sand sculptures, moreover, with miHoYo exhibiting her artwork via their official Twitter in celebration of summer last year. The floating companion, while occasionally annoying, remains as an enticing property and illustration of the series’ bubbly and animated premise.

Genshin Impact is available to play now on Android, IOS, PC, PS4 and PS5. A Switch version is currently in development.
