Genshin Impact players are no stranger to challenging puzzles, as the popular game is riddled with hidden content. And with the second act of the Midsummer Island Adventure event now live, and plenty of islands springing up from the depths, players are sure to come across a number of fresh mysteries to solve. One of these new puzzles involves locating a missing totem in order to unlock an Exquisite Chest.
Regardless of whether they intend to sail the seas in search of Echoing Conches for Barbara's Summertime Sparkle Costume, or dead set on unlocking every hidden chest out there, players are sure to come across a number of puzzles and challenges throughout the Golden Apple Archipelago. This case of the missing Pyro totem can be found on a small, unmarked island off the coast of the Minacious Isle.
Having arrived, players will notice that other than a few scattered resources, including a Mushroom and some Sea Ganoderma, the island seems otherwise quite bare. Although, there is a locked chest in the center of the island, as well as a few Pyro totems spread out. Use one of the many Pyro characters to light the totems to solve the puzzle. While each of them can accomplish the job, players can utilize Amber to light the totems quickly, as she can light them all from a distance. However, even after all three totems are lit, the chest remains locked, indicating a fourth totem hidden on the island.
While surveying the surrounding area, players will notice a whirlpool nearby, surrounded by water bubbles. Glide or swim over to the whirlpool to be transported to an underwater cave. The Waverider can also be used to sail towards and enter the whirlpool, although it will not be transported into the cave with the player. Inside, Paimon will inform the player that they cannot leave the way they came in, and will need to find another way out. Follow the pathway and defeat the Hydro slime ahead. There should be a stone tablet along the way. It reads: "...this observation point is perfect for conducting astronomical research..."
At the end of the path, there will be a stone wall. Scale up the wall and continue down the pathway. Players will soon come across a locked gate and a pressure plate. Another stone tablet reading "...the margin of error in my observation here is too large, it seems I must find another observation point..." will be nearby. Genshin Impact players may recognize this puzzle. Step on the pressure plate in order to open the gate. Enter the next room. It looks like a dead-end, and the gate is now closed. There are a group of breakable rocks in one of the corners of the room. Breaking these will reveal another pressure plate, but it does not seem to do anything. There is also another stone tablet in the room. It reads: "...perhaps around 1:00 AM would be the optimal window of time..."
Similar to some previous time-sensitive quests in Genshin Impact, players will need to manipulate the in-game time to complete the puzzle. Adjust the time to 1 AM, then activate the pressure plate again. The plate will reveal the exit on the ceiling, leading back to the starting point. Water will begin flooding the room. Once the water stops rising, players will be able to spot the fourth Pyro totem. Light it to complete the puzzle. Players can leave the room by climbing up the hanging vines dangling above the water. Open the chest to claim the reward.
