Genshin Impact's world is made of seven main nations, and so far, players have had the option to explore Mondstadt, Liyue, and the islands of Inazuma. With the whole Inazuma arc coming to an end, it is expected that a new major region is just around the corner.

The ongoing Genshin Impact Version 2.6 has added a brand-new region named Chasm. While Version 2.7 has not even arrived yet, the current 2.8 beta phase has revealed that there will be a new region in update 2.8.

A popular Genshin Impact leaker named Genshin Blank has shared an interesting image of a new region that should arrive in Version 2.8. Genshin Impact has introduced a pattern of expanding the map with every second update. With Enkanomiya being released in 2.4 and Chasm in 2.6, it's likely that update 2.8 brings a new part of the map. The new region is called Twinning Isles, and it is composed of numerous small islands. The picture shows a model of a castle that is placed on a couple of cliffs, and according to the leak, players will be able to access its interior.

Multiple leaks claim that this new region will be limited only to Genshin Impact Version 2.8, which will be similar to last Summer's Golden Apple Archipelago event. It was a part of the Midsummer Island Adventure, which was part of Genshin Impact update 2.6. The Golden Apple Archipelago was a limited-time area located east of the Mondstadt region. The whole event is considered one of the fan favorites, and it was divided into four different acts.

Players had to use a special type of transport named Waverider Boat in order to get from one island to another as the travel distance was too far even for Mona and Ayaka, who have unique sprinting mechanics. The addition of this new region has fallen under the radar as the game's official social media accounts confirmed a new Genshin Impact character named Shikanoin Heizou. He is confirmed to be a new Anemo character and the first male Catalyst user in the game.

The Twinning Island will probably be the last map extension before a new major region arrives in Genshin Impact Version 3.0. Multiple leaks have been hinting that the new region is the mysterious land named Sumeru. The story has already revealed that Sumeru consists of various deserts and forests. The new region will add multiple new characters, including the Sumeru Archon named Lesser Lord Kusanali.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
