Genshin Impact's first teaser trailer for its newest character, Nahida, gives a somber introduction to the Dendro Archon based on her story. With Version 3.2 set to bring with it new characters and the next chapter of Sumeru's story next week, HoYoVerse has started to reveal details about the upcoming patch. Last week's Version 3.2 Special Program revealed two new bosses coming to the game as well as re-runs of popular past characters, new events, and more. Now, the first trailer for Nahida has given players a look into her sad story.
The newest trailer from Genshin Impact, titled "Nahida: Happy Birthday," details the story of the new Dendro Archon as told throughout the first chapters of Sumeru's Archon Quest. The trailer features Nahida recounting the same tale several times of meeting the "Knight of Flowers" and holding the Sabzerus Festival, swapping between the original Knight of Flowers and the Traveler. However, the trailer's second half takes a darker twist to mirror the events of Version 3.1's story with Nahida captured and imprisoned by the Sages.
Alongside the obvious nods to the events of Versions 3.0 and 3.1, Nahida's trailer contains several other subtle elements of the character's history included within the trailer. The first meeting with the Knight of Flowers, combined with the trailer's birthday theme, refers to Nahida's birth as the Dendro Archon following the death of Greater Lord Rukkhadevata. The trailer also features Nahida re-telling the same story multiple times in different forms, a nod to the story's progression during the Sabzerus Festival. Nahida is set to release next week on the first banner of Version 3.2.
Nahida's upcoming introduction to Genshin Impact will be a powerful addition for players who have implemented the Dendro element into their teams. Previous leaks of Nahida's kit have shown her strength in Dendro-focused teams with abilities that deal bonus damage on Dendro reactions and a Burst that gains different effects based on your party's elements. Nahida has also been confirmed to have exceptional synergy with the recently released Nilou. Nilou's niche focus on Bloom reactions makes Nahida's wide Dendro application a powerful addition to comps focusing around the character.
Nahida won't be the only character to join Genshin Impact during Version 3.2 as HoYoVerse revealed the game's next four-star character alongside her. The sleepy Akademiya student, Layla, will also be added Genshin Impact during the coming update as a Cryo Sword user. Layla's kit features both shielding and off-screen damage, lending her to be a powerful support for teams focused around Cryo reactions. Nahida and Layla will both bring new elements to Genshin Impact when they release during the game's next update.
Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
