Thanks to Genshin Impact's 1.2 update, there have been a lot of changes to the game, such as enemy and weapon name adjustments, along with some new content for gamers to immerse themselves in the world. One of these changes miHoYo implemented for Genshin Impact Version 1.2 is a new part of the Spiral Abyss world event.

The new Spiral Abyss event is a repeatable multi-phased event that helps players earn new rewards and increase their Adventure Rank in Genshin Impact. This latest event titled "Moment of Syzygy" rewards Genshin Impact players for completing the first eight floors of the Abyss Corridor to unlock floors nine through 12.

In the details for the Genshin Impact event, it is said that players will be rewarded for their efforts, but there have been a lot of reports of people not receiving anything. To further add to the confusion, members of the miHoYo customer support team were questioned about this, and their response said the event does not even exist, which has left some fans wondering what this event is, and what might be going on.

How to unlock the Spiral Abyss

The moment of Syzygy event is specifically the name for the third phase of the Spiral Abyss in Genshin Impact, right after the Abyssal Moon Spire phase. Since it is not its own separate event, the prizes mentioned were simply the rewards already given to the player for completing the floors until then.

It is important to remember that the items earned during the Genshin Impact Spiral Abyss event are still worthwhile. Players can receive a Chamber's Bounty for completing the floors for the first time. Along with that, extra Star Bounty rewards are given to fans who earn enough Abyssal shards. The Abyssal Moon Spire's prizes reset on the first and sixteenth day of each month, with a new "Blessing of the Abyssal Moon" period also beginning on the first.

It is easy to understand why so many became confused. The event had a bunch of items labeled as rewards; however, these items were just the accumulated rewards already received, rather than a bonus. There is no clear reason as to why miHoYo decided to label the event like this, and the company has not made a public statement. Hopefully, this confusion can be cleared up quickly, so Genshin Impact players don't feel they were cheated out of something.

Genshin Impact is available now on the App Store, Google Play, PC, and PS4, and is currently in development for PS5 and Switch.
