The newest leak from Genshin Impact is teasing future regions of Sumeru's desert set to be added to the game in future patches. HoYoVerse's breakout hit RPG recently added a new expansion to the game's fourth major region, introducing players to the pyramid-filled deserts of Sumeru. While the growth of the game's map in Version 3.1 was substantial with a new village and plenty of new underground puzzles, the most recent update still leaves much of Sumeru's desert unexplorable. Now, a leak has revealed how Sumeru's playable desert will expand outwards.

A recent update from trusted Genshin Impact leaker Blank has given players a look at how the deserts of Sumeru will grow during coming patches. Blank shared a wide overhead map of Sumeru's desert region with the game's borders expanded northwards, showing two new areas set to join Genshin Impact. The update is planned to come over multiple patches with the new desert locations reportedly set to arrive in Versions 3.4 and 3.6. The map posted by Blank also suggests a "Sandworm" to be featured in one of the game's new regions, teasing a potential new boss.

The rumored expansions to Genshin Impact's desert are just a few of several locales heavily rumored to be coming to the game in the future. Both of the game's original regions, Mondstadt, have both been rumored to be receiving new locations based on leaks and in-game information. Liyue's currently unreleased Qiaoying Village is heavily rumored to be coming in later Sumeru updates, reportedly planned to be a bridge location for the next region of Fontaine. Mondstadt's northern village of Dornman Port has also been the subject of rumors related to map expansion.

Sumeru's newest desert expansion is just one part of a series of major Genshin Impact leaks earlier this week. The leaks included a schedule for upcoming characters like Baizhu and Dehya, new bosses coming along with the Sumeru desert, and early details about Genshin Impact's Fontaine. Even the Genshin Impact anime hasn't been safe from leaks with some details about the plot of the Ufotable anime revealed.

Genshin Impact has been no stranger to leaks throughout the game's two-year history with future characters and content often leaked from the game's closed beta tests. Characters like Nahida and Layla have seen their gameplay revealed weeks before their official addition into Genshin Impact. Genshin leaks have also given players a look into some of the future content planned for the game like the upcoming in-game TCG mini-game. With Genshin Impact's map set to grow substantially over future patches, players will look to have plenty more areas to explore soon.

Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
