Genshin Impact has introduced an interesting trend of unlocking one main nation annually. After Inazuma's storyline came to an end, developer HoYoverse finally introduced the long-awaited Sumeru region in update 3.0.

Even though Sumeru's official promotional videos revealed that the region is divided between rainforests and deserts, Genshin Impact Version 3.0 has allowed players to explore only the rainforest part of the new nation. This means that Travelers will have to wait for a couple of weeks in order to set foot in Teyvat's first desert.

A new post on the Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit shows the map of the first Sumeru desert that will be revealed in the upcoming update 3.1. The leak was apparently taken from the ongoing Genshin Impact Version 3.1 beta phase, and it seems as though the map expansion will apparently be even larger than the first part of Sumeru that was added at the start of the current update 3.0. Even though the desert looks enormous, there is a chance that a big part of it could be empty in order to make it more realistic.

According to the map, the first part of the desert will be divided into three separate locations named: The Downwind Erosion, The Windward Erosion, and Sandplain Colonnade. While the first two parts seem to share the same type of relief as Sumeru but without vegetation, the Sandplain Colonnade will be filled with desert sand and mysterious buildings such as the enormous pyramid that was shown in one of Sumeru's teasers. Another popular leaker, Project Celestia, has revealed that even after the deserts arrive in the next update, around 31% of Sumeru will still remain unreleased.

Developer HoYoverse has already confirmed the arrival of three new characters for update 3.1: Cyno, Candace, and Nilou. The fact that Cyno was officially announced led many players to believe that the arrival of Sumeru's deserts is just around the corner even before the Version 3.1 map was leaked. Cyno's whole outfit seems to be based on traditional Ancient Egypt clothing and his unique headpiece resembles the Egyptian God of the Underworld, also known as Anubis.

Recent beta leaks have revealed that Cyno will be a new Electro polearm character with strong DPS capabilities. He has already been given the nickname "five-star Razor" by the community due to the similarities between their kits. His damage potential will revolve around having Dendro characters in his team composition and using one of the new elemental reactions named Aggravate, which can be triggered by combining Electro with Dendro.

Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
