Genshin Impact has a fairly simple combat system that relies on applying different elemental reactions in order to increase damage potential. Players have the option to use four party characters at the same time, which allows up to four different types of elemental damage to be applied on the field.

Apart from the Traveler, each Genshin Impact character can use one out of six elements. Multiple leaks have already revealed that players will finally be able to apply the long-awaited Dendro element on the battlefield.

A credible Genshin Impact leaker named Genshin Intel has revealed more information about the upcoming Dendro elemental reactions. The new element is set to arrive with the new major update, which should also introduce a new nation to the game. According to the leak, there are two new elemental reactions, and they have the following effect:

  • Intensified -- This elemental reaction is triggered when Dendro and Electro are combined, increasing both of these elemental damage types for 7 seconds. In addition, the reaction drops one electro particle.
  • Overgrown -- Upon combining Dendro and Hydro elements, seeds are dropped on the floor which turn into mushrooms. Applying additional Hydro damage will cause them to explode dealing AoE Dendro damage.

The leak also confirms that the new elemental reaction will not trigger with the three Genshin Impact elements -- Geo, Anemo, and Cryo. When it comes to the combination of Dendro and Pyro, the elemental reaction Burning already exists in the game, and it deals additional Pyro damage over time. However, there is a chance that this elemental reaction gets modified once Dendro officially becomes a part of a playable character's kit.

The addition of multiple new elemental reactions will surely have an impact on the character meta. While HoYoverse is yet to give a specific date regarding when the first Dendro characters will arrive, multiple leaks have revealed that it will probably happen once the new Sumeru region arrives in update 3.0. Assuming that previous rumors are correct about 2.8 being the last update of the Inazuma arc, Genshin Impact version 3.0 should arrive around August 15 this year.

The two first Genshin Impact Dendro characters that could arrive on the roster are Collei and the Dendro Archon. Collei will apparently be a part of the first Sumeru update, while players will have to wait for 3.1 to get their hands on the Dendro Archon, better known as Lesser Lord Kusanali and the God of Wisdom. The two previously released Archons, Raiden Shogun and Zhongli, have both been released on the second part of a new major update.

Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development with no confirmed release date.
