Directly after Genshin Impact's festive winter events, players were introduced to an entirely new set of spring celebrations with the Lantern Rite Festival featuring Xiao, one of the game's latest playable five-stars.

Since then, Travelers have also had the chance to meet a powerful new form of "Vishaps" that have been appearing around Teyvat, along with yet another Genshin Impact character. As players may well know, Hu Tao was ultimately introduced as part of the game's Version 1.3 too, making for a great end cap to the Lantern Rite celebrations. With her introduction, and a new set of recent leaks, it's now safe to say that V1.3 is on its last legs, and V1.4 of the game is on the horizon.

In one particularly unique leak, players have been given some background for upcoming character Dansleif, however, only through another character's voice lines. This is notably unique simply because many of the existing Genshin Impact leaks have been either images, videos, or combinations of both. That is, even when leaks include audio components, they generally come alongside a number of leaked visual elements as well. This audio-only preview of Dansleif not only helps retain some of the mystery surrounding this (literally) shady character, but also functions as a sort of implicit confirmation.

The voice clips below obviously confirm Dansleif was referred to as "The Twilight Sword," but more importantly: many fans are theorizing that the fact the Traveler is directly speaking about Dansleif, indicates he will be a sizable component of the V1.4 update. He was confirmed to be playable eventually during a special livestream on September 27, 2020, but when he is set to arrive, is an altogether different debate. Nonetheless, players should probably expect to see some Dansleif during the main events of V1.4.

Like Rosaria and Baizhu, he has been teased several times in promotional images and videos; also like Rosaria and Baizhu, he has made in-game appearances during certain questlines and/or events. Of course, the above details don't necessarily mean Dansleif will be playable soon, but they do suggest he holds some sort of weight in developer miHoYo's current plan for Genshin Impact.

Given how many spotlight moments Rosaria has been given in the past month or so, it's all too likely she will be coming in V1.4 of Genshin Impact. Baizhu is a bit more of a toss-up, though his affinity for the Dendro element– and the game's current lack of a Dendro-wielding playable character– indicates that he may be a strong candidate for imminent updates.

Dansleif, on the other hand, players are even less sure of.  Since he was confirmed as playable, fans have been wildly speculating about this enigmatic figure. His pupils resemble Primogems (like Kaeya's, actually), and though he has thus far appeared with normal arms and hands in-game, promotional images have depicted his right arm as entirely black with glowing blue veins. Kaeya is the only other significant in-game character who players know hails from Khaenri'ah, so perhaps its people are known for their gem-like eyes.

Apart from the fact he seems to be timelessly old, and interested in helping the Traveler take down the Abyss Order, players know little about "Bough Keeper" Dansleif. That said, he allegedly remembers "the fall of Khaenri'ah," which also happens to be his homeland - this, coupled with the fact that his Constellation is an ouroboros (original Chinese: 蛇环座 "snake ring" constellation), may mean players will finally get to meet someone who knows more about the mysterious Khaenri'ah, and the rumored eighth Archon/Element.

Genshin Impact is available now on the App Store, Google Play, PC, and PS4, and is currently in development for PS5 and Switch.
