Layla adds to the list of Genshin Impact characters that use Sword as their weapon of choice. This places Sword as the most popular weapon among the characters, besting Bow with 13 wielders.

Layla is a Genshin Impact unit that relies on HP for most of her abilities. Sadly, this limits her choice since there’s no F2P option for HP-granting Sword. But, players who own the following Swords can rejoice as they have one of the best weapons for Layla in Genshin Impact.

7 Favonius Sword

  • Primary Stat: 454 Base ATK
  • Secondary Stat: 61.3% Energy Recharge
  • R5 Effect: CRIT hits have a 100% chance to generate a small amount of Elemental Particles, which will regenerate 6 Energy for the character. Can only occur once every 6s.

It may be quite surprising to see Favonius Sword on the list since Layla’s Burst only requires 40 Energy to use, but Favonius has always been an option if Travelers are seeking extra Energy production. Favonius Sword can turn Layla into a Genshin Impact Battery as long as she has sufficient Critical Rate stat.

6 Haran Geppaku Futsu

  • Primary Stat: 608 ATK
  • Secondary Stat: 33.1% CRIT Rate
  • Effect: Obtain 12% All Elemental DMG Bonus. When other nearby party members use Elemental Skills, the character equipping this weapon will gain 1 Wavespike stack. Max 2 stacks. This effect can be triggered once every 0.3s. When the character equipping this weapon uses an Elemental Skill, all stacks of Wavespike will be consumed to gain Rippling Upheaval: each stack of Wavespike consumed will increase Normal Attack DMG by 20% for 8s.

Haran Geppaku Futsu is decent for Sub-DPS Layla since it grants Critical Rate. As for the passive, Layla won’t benefit much from it as it’s meant to be used by characters that rely on Normal Attacks.

5 Mistsplitter Reforged

  • Primary Stat: 674 ATK
  • Secondary Stat: 44.1% CRIT DMG
  • Effect: Gain a 12% Elemental DMG Bonus for all elements and receive the might of the Mistsplitter's Emblem. At stack levels 1/2/3, Mistsplitter's Emblem provides an 8/16/28% Elemental DMG Bonus for the character's Elemental Type. The character will obtain 1 stack of Mistsplitter's Emblem in each of the following scenarios: Normal Attack deals Elemental DMG (stack lasts 5s), casting Elemental Burst (stack lasts 10s); Energy is less than 100% (stack disappears when Energy is full). Each stack's duration is calculated independently.

Since Sub-DPS Layla performs best in a freeze team, players can fully focus on stacking Critical Damage over Critical Rate. For this, Mistsplitter Reforged is an excellent stat stick. Layla won’t benefit much from the Sword’s high base ATK, but she can still activate the weapon’s passive here and there.

4 Sacrificial Sword

  • Primary Stat: 454 ATK
  • Secondary Stat: 61.3% Energy Recharge
  • R5 Effect: After dealing damage to an opponent with an Elemental Skill, the skill has a 80% chance to end its own CD. Can only occur once every 16s.

Sacrificial Sword may seem unnecessary since Layla’s Skill has a 12s duration and 12s cooldown, but Sacrificial is actually decent if Layla’s shield keeps breaking. With Genshin Impact Sacrificial weapon’s passive, Layla can recast her shield if things ever go bad and she loses her protection early.

3 Freedom-Sworn

  • Primary Stat: 608 Base ATK
  • Secondary Stat: 198 Elemental Mastery
  • Effect: Increases DMG by 10%. When the character wielding this weapon triggers Elemental Reactions, they gain a Sigil of Rebellion. This effect can be triggered once every 0.5s and can be triggered even if said character is not on the field. When you possess 2 Sigils of Rebellion, all of them will be consumed and all nearby party members will obtain "Millennial Movement: Song of Resistance" for 12s. "Millennial Movement: Song of Resistance" increases Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attack DMG by 16% and increases ATK by 20%. Once this effect is triggered, you will not gain Sigils of Rebellion for 20s. Of the many effects of the "Millennial Movement," buffs of the same type will not stack.

Freedom-Sworn is a Sword that can grant ATK and Normal, Charged, and Plunging DMG buff to the entire team. To get this effect, Layla simply has to trigger two Elemental Reactions. Considering Layla’s Skill and Burst can both provide stable Cryo DMG, triggering Elemental Reactions would not be too hard for her.

2 Primordial Jade Cutter

  • Primary Stat: 542 ATK
  • Secondary Stat: 44.1% CRIT Rate
  • Effect: HP increased by 20%. Additionally, provides an ATK Bonus based on 1.2% of the wielder's Max HP.

Primordial Jade Cutter grants HP via its passive, a stat that Layla needs to strengthen her shield. If players wish to play the sleepy scholar as a Sub-DPS, Jade Cutter is also excellent for its Critical Rate sub-stat.

One thing people may want to keep in mind is that if Layla is playing in a freeze team, the combination of 4pc Blizzard Strayer and Primordial Jade Cutter may result in an overflow of Critical Rate.

1 Key of Khaj-Nisut

  • Primary Stat: 542 Base ATK
  • Secondary Stat: 66.2% HP
  • Effect: +20% HP. When an Elemental Skill hits opponents, gain the Grand Hymn effect for 20s. This effect increases the equipping character’s Elemental Mastery by 0.12% of their Max HP. Max 3 stacks. When this effect gains 3 stacks, or when the third stack’s duration is refreshed, the Elemental Mastery of all nearby party members will be increased by 0.2% of the equipping character’s max HP for 20s.

Key of Khaj-Nisut is designed as the best weapon for Nilou in Genshin Impact, but it’s great for a few other characters as well. For example, Kuki Shinobu and Layla can easily benefit from the weapon’s passive. Both Kuki and Layla periodically deal damage via their Elemental Skill, allowing the team to enjoy Elemental Mastery buff once the passive reaches maximum stack.

For Layla, Key of Khaj-Nisut is excellent to maximize her shield, grant her some supportive materials, and also allows her to deal decent damage all at the same time.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
