Similar to Bennett, Kujou Sara is an attack buffer in Genshin Impact. However, unlike the Mondstadt Adventurer, Sara is more niche and is specifically designed for Electro characters. The Tengu Warrior also doesn’t provide healing as Bennett does. Though they may seem similar, they have very different play styles.

Considering how Bennett is far more flexible, useful, and simple compared to Kujou Sara, it’s no surprise that the Inazuma General isn’t as popular as Benny. When it comes to the Tengu Warrior, her playstyle mostly consists of a specific rotation for players to maintain her buff uptime. Other that that, here are a few notable mistakes Genshin Impact that players should avoid when using Kujou Sara.

7 Not Managing Her Buff Properly

When it comes to simplicity, Sara is far from it. Unlike Bennett’s buff, which can be gained simply by standing in his field, players need to time Kujou Sara’s skill to get hers. However, this complication can actually be rewarding. The Electro buffer has the ability to endlessly buff a character, unlike Bennett who’s limited to his Elemental Burst. Even at zero Constellation, Travelers can maintain 100% buff uptime with the Tengu Warrior. Although, of course, it will be a strict rotation.

To gain Kujou Sara’s buff, players have to stand in her Crowfeather’s AoE when it explodes. Therefore, only one character can be buffed per Crowfeather (in single-player). One Crowfeather can be summoned by using her Charged Attack after casting Elemental Skill. If Travelers own C2 Sara, she will also deploy the buff when she casts her Skill (players can still use the Charged Attack method afterward).

6 Not Immediately Swapping Out After Using Burst

When Sara casts her Elemental Burst, the Tengu Warrior releases bolts of lightning in four directions (six on C4). It deals okay damage, but what matters is that this move has the same buffing ability as Sara’s Elemental Skill if players got hit by the bolt.

Therefore, after casting Kujou Sara’s ultimate, players should immediately swap to their desired damage dealer. As the lightning moves quite fast, it’s crucial for Travelers to switch quickly. At C0, combining Sara’s Skill and Burst is the key to getting 100% buff uptime.

5 Not Using Her Crowfeather To Regenerate Energy

As an Electro character, it’s no surprise that Sara comes with the supportive skills to regenerate Energy. After deploying a Crowfeather on the field, if the Electro ball hits an enemy, Kujou Sara will restore 1.2 Energy to the entire party for every 100% Energy Recharge (ER) she has. This means that at 200% ER, this number is doubled to 2.4 Energy (thougu this can only occur every three seconds).

This effect is also available from the smaller Crowfeather Sara made at C2, so players will be able to trigger it twice every eight seconds. This makes Kujou Sara one of the best Batteries in Genshin Impact, albeit highly underrated.

4 Using Her As A Main DPS

Genshin Impact character Kojou Sara

Kujou Sara has a low Normal Attack multiplier when compared to other DPS-worthy characters like Fischl, Yoimiya, or Tartaglia. This shows that she’s simply not meant to carry the team’s damage.

When upgrading the Shogun General, it’s best if players ignore her Normal Attack talent entirely. Instead, focus on her Elemental Skill to ensure maximum buff, then opt for Elemental Burst for higher damage (although Burst can be ignored as well). This way, Travelers will not be wasting their precious Genshin Impact resources.

3 Not Using A Bow With High Base Attack

At this point, it’s quite obvious that the developer lowers a 4-star character’s most needed stat. For example, Barbara and Diona are highly reliant on HP, yet their base HP is only 9787 and 9570, respectively. This is incredibly low when compared to other HP characters like Hu Tao (15552) or Zhongli (14695). Therefore, as Bennett and Sara’s buffs scale with their base Attack, it’s no surprise that their Attack stats at level 90 are as low as 191 and 195, respectively.

To make up for the terrible default stat, players have to ensure that Kujou Sara is wielding a Bow that has a high base Attack. For example, while Favonius Warbow has a passive fitting for a support, its base stat is really low (454). Meanwhile, the Tengu Warrior may not need Sacrificial Bow badly, but the weapon’s high base Attack (565) means players will have a higher Attack buff as well.

2 Underestimating Sara’s Synergy With Electro Characters

Before getting C6 Sara, she may be an underwhelming buffer when compared to Bennett. But if Travelers managed to get six more copies of the Tengu Warrior, then they’ll find that Sara has an amazing C6 effect.

In addition to her Attack buff, Kujou Sara will also grant 60% Electro Crit damage. This is a massive addition to the team, one that can make a mono-Electro team a viable option. In addition to the damage increase, with this bonus, players also have the freedom to raise their Electro character’s Crit Rate and rely on Sara to grant them Crit damage. With how easy it is for the Shogun General to grant 100% buff uptime, this investment will prove to be worth it.

1 Stacking Attack Instead of ER

Kujou Sara’s Attack buff may scale with her stat, but it scales with her base instead of total Attack. Base Attack is the sum of her default stat (195 at level 90) and her weapon’s base stat. Any other additions like artifacts or items passive will not be considered for the Tengu Warrior’s buff.

Therefore, as Attack items will be useless for Sara, it’s best to focus on the stat that enhances her Energy restoration passive. This ability scales with Kujou Sara’s total Energy Recharge, making equipment like Energy Recharge Timepiece or 2-Emblem of Severed Fate fully useful.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
