Genshin Impact's Yuheng of the Liyue Qixing, Keqing, doesn’t like to be dependent on the Archons to protect her or Liyue Harbor. Keqing believes in herself, thinks that she’s the only one responsible for her own fate, and doesn’t count on gods to decide it for her.

RELATED: Genshin Impact: Mistakes Players Make When Using Xiao

With a strong feeling of responsibility, Keqing wears herself down to work harder than others. To most people, Keqing is famous for defying the gods and thinking that humans can take care of their own issues. However, after Rex Lapis resigned from his duties and the Qixing took over, she gained a new respect for him and his work. There's a bit of a learning curve when it comes to properly utilizing Keqing throughout Genshin Impact. Here are some mistakes to avoid.

Updated December 4, 2021, by Nahda Nabiilah: Genshin Impact is always adding new things to every version. Of course, when a game develops new areas and items, the meta will keep changing. Keqing was one of the characters that had no actual role in the previous updates. But now with the addition of some characters and artifacts that can help her shine, players can finally take Keqing (and all her constellations they didn’t want) from the bottom of their characters list to sit next to their best characters.

11 Not Trying Keqing As A Sub-DPS

As a Sub-DPS, Keqing will have some field time, although not much. The main focus for this role is spamming her Elemental Burst. This ability can reach everyone on the battlefield with its large range. The multi-hit of this attack is also great for shield breaking since it counts the number of hits (and Elemental application) instead of the damage. Furthermore, Keqing's Elemental Burst has a low Energy requirement (40 Energy), and a low cooldown, making it effortless to use.

So instead of building Keqing to be the main DPS, players can count on Keqing's Burst to eliminate many obstacles. Sub-DPS Keqing is especially useful when paired with characters that benefit from the Electro application her Burst provides.

10 Not Pairing Her With Certain Characters

Kokomi and Sara

Keqing can be an important addition to the party if the team is built correctly. She will certainly not shine if her team has characters like Chongyun in it or a selfish DPS like Razor or Eula. Instead, a support like Raiden Shogun or Kujou Sara can boost Keqing’s damage and activate the Electro Resonance that will help them spam their Bursts. Even better, C6 Sara can massively boost Keqing's damage.

Meanwhile, when Keqing is paired with Hydro units, she can keep triggering Electro-Charged reactions in a decent AOE. For this job, players can opt for Xingqiu, Mona, or Kokomi. Mona and Kokomi can even equip the Hakushin Ring to trigger Electro damage buff for Keqing

9 Not Adjusting Artifacts Based On Keqing's Build

Genshin Impact Artifacts

Building Keqing can be tricky. If players don't figure out what they want from her, her artifacts would be all over the place. Sub-DPS Keqing can be a destructive force if she was built on 2-Thundering Fury and 2-Noblesse Oblige.

If she was a Physical DPS, 4-Bloodstained Chivalry could help Keqing use her Charged attacks without losing any Stamina, 2-Pale Flame and 2-Bloodstained are also viable options.

As for Electro Keqing, 4-Thundering Fury can make her deal Electro damage 100% of the time. But if players don't want to play with Elemental Reaction, then 4-Thundersoother is also an excellent choice for Keqing.

8 Underestimating Her Elemental Reactions

Keqing Treggering Electro-Charge Reaction

Electro doesn’t have any amplifying damage-dealing reaction. Hydro has Vaporize, while Cryo and Pyro have Melt. Because Electro doesn't have amplifying reactions, players tend to disregard Electro Elemental reactions. Indeed, Electro reactions can’t compete with Melt and Vaporize, but that does not mean that they should be ignored.

After the reaction buff in Genshin Impact 1.6, transformative reactions are now more viable. And while the buff is mostly good for Swirl, it is still a decent addition to Electro reactions. Not only that, but Electro reactions also have more effects on them. For example, Electro-Charged staggers enemies while jumping in between them, and Superconduct lowers the enemy's physical resistance. Therefore, Electro reactions should not be underestimated and should be utilized when possible.

7 Underestimating Electro Keqing

Like typical Electro units, Keqing's Electro damage is deemed underwhelming, so most players opt to go with a Physical build. This is because Keqing has a high Charged attack multiplier, and she can easily trigger Superconduct. While Physical Keqing's Charged attacks can deal massive damage, they’re missing out on her Electro builds potentials.

Since Keqing can have 100% Electro applications, 4-Thundersoother will boost her damage by 35% the whole fight. In addition, if players build Keqing with 4-Thundering Fury, Keqing will have 100% Electro infusion and her reactions will deal greater damage.

6 Unable to Choose Between Physical Or Electro Build

A lot of players are unable to decide whether they should use their Keqing in Physical or Electro build. Keqing is quite unappealing for a lot of people because her multiplier may seem too low to invest in.

However, both Physical and Electro builds actually have a rather insignificant difference where the damage output is quite similar to each other. So players should choose whichever build they like better.

5 Using Her Skill The Wrong Way

Keqing's Skill targeting

Keqing’s skill is unique. It applies Electro on the enemy while leaving a hairpin mark. When used again, Keqing can blink to that mark, dealing another Electro AOE damage. Alternatively, players can use a Charge attack and the hairpin will explode, dealing Electro AOE damage.

The difference here is based on Keqing's build. If Keqing blinked to the mark, she will infuse her weapon with Electro and lose the Physical damage bonus. While if she uses a Charge attack, she will not infuse her weapon. Here players need to pay attention to which kind of skill they want to use.

4 Underestimating Her Damage

Keqing using her Burst

Keqing has a very low multiplier on her Normal attacks. However, she has the highest Charge attack multiplier among all sword wielders. Although she's now dethroned by Ayaka, Keqing's Charge attack is still one of the best.

RELATED: Genshin Impact: Most Underrated Characters

It's true that her Normal attack deals low damage, but it is compensated with fast attacks and high mobility. Keqing's quick repositioning allows her to gain a decent damage per second compared to other characters that have low mobility. Therefore, Keqing's damage should not be underestimated. Her kit allows her to be as good as other DPS.

3 Not Utilizing Her Mobility

Keqing using her skill for mobility

Some characters have good mobility skills that allow them to move around easily like Xiao or Venti. Keqing also possesses such ability. Some players may neglect her ability to blink into hard-to-reach positions.

Her blink is useful in the world map and also during combat. Keqing can blink multiple times and avoid getting hit if players mastered the timing of her blinks. Add to that, her invincibility during Elemental Burst makes Keqing almost impossible to hit in combat.

2 Spamming Charged Attacks Against Small Enemies

Keqing using her charge attack

Keqing Charge attack is her best damage-dealing ability. Players tend to spam her Charge attack on all enemies. However, spamming it on small enemies will cause them to get thrown away. Afterward, Keqing will have to reposition and eventually lose a lot of time doing so. She could kill them with her Normal attacks or skills instead.

Keqing should use her Charge attacks on big enemies and bosses. Their size is usually big and they have slow movement allowing Keqing to maximize the usage of her Charge attacks.

1 Using Physical Build On High Constellation Keqing

Keqing Constellation showcase

Keqing might not be undesired like Qiqi as a pity breaker, so getting multiple copies may be a good enough reason to start building her. However, if players have multiple constellations on their Keqing, then they should go for an Electro build.

This is because her constellations enhance her Electro capabilities, which will be wasted if the Yuheng of the Liyue Qixing is played on Physical.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
