Genshin Impact update 2.2 will bring two banner re-runs which means that we won't see any new five-star characters in the following weeks. However, miHoYo's official social media accounts have revealed two new characters we will see in update 2.3 - Itto and Gorou.
The most recent Genshin Impact 2.2 livestream has revealed which two characters players will have the options to pull for during the ongoing six-week period. Tartaglia is a strong DPS character and he has been on the character banner for almost three weeks now which means that it's time for Hu Tao to take his place which raises the interesting question, which four-star characters will make her company?
A recent post on the Genshin_Impact_Leaks subreddit has apparently revealed the four-star characters which will be featured on the second banner cycle for update 2.2. The banner will include the following characters:
- Hu Tao - a five-star Pyro polearm character
- Thoma - a four-star Pyro polearm character
- Sayu - a four-star Anemo claymore character
- Diona - a four-star Cryo bow character
The only new character in this update, including Childe's banner, will be Thoma, who was announced by miHoYo a couple of weeks ago. He is a support DPS character with a strong emphasis on Defense rather than Attack. He has one of the lowest Attack stats in the game and his biggest strength lies in his ability to provide shields.
Hu Tao will probably be the main reason for players to spend their hard-earned Primogems on this banner. She has always been one of the strongest DPS characters in the game alongside Ganyu and Xiao. Hu Tao's very unique playstyle requires players to get used to her animation cancel mechanics in order to use her full damage potential. She is definitely one of the fan-favorite characters in the game at the moment and a must-have DPS character for any Genshin Impact player that has the option to acquire her.
However, players could still choose to wait for a couple of weeks and save their Primos for two brand new Geo characters - Arataki Itto and Gorou who should be on the same banner. Itto's ascension attribute will be Critical Damage which could make him one of the stronger DPS characters in Genshin Impact. This means that he will gain Critical Damage for each level ascension.
Credible Genshin Impact leakers have confirmed that another Geo character, Albedo, will appear as the first banner character for update 2.3. Albedo is one of the strongest supports in Genshin Impact and should have great synergy with Itto and Gorou. Adding another strong Geo user like Zhongli to these three characters could make a viable party. Having a party of characters that use the same vision is usually very bad but it actually does work with Geo thanks to the reaction Crystalize which can work independently from all the other elements.
