Sumeru is the most recent region in Genshin Impact. The Land of Dendro comes after Inazuma, as shown in the Teyvat Chapter Storyline Preview: Travail. Next would be the Land of Hydro, Fontaine, where the God of Justice resides.

Meanwhile, Sumeru is a place known for its wisdom. The Akademiya is famed all across Teyvat for its valuable research. The land is lush and filled with life, but everything changes when the Marana attacks. The Withering spreads all across Sumeru in Genshin Impact, poisoning its flora with the memory of death. The Forest Ranger has to work hard to remove this misfortune, as it's not only dangerous for the forest, but regular people can easily fall ill under the influence of the Withering too.

To assist the Land of Wisdom, Travelers can take this task into their own hands. Here’s how Genshin Impact Travelers can destroy the Withering in Sumeru.

How To Destroy The Withering In Genshin Impact

clear the withering branches with the assistance of dendrograna in genshin impact

To destroy the Withering in Genshin Impact, players must clear the Withering Branches with the assistance of Dendrograna. After summoning the Genshin Impact Dendrograna, use a Charged Attack (preferably from a bow user) or Aimed Shot on the Withering Branch.

The Withering Branches are three smaller branches that connect to the Tumor of the Withering. The Tumor has three lines of red auras around it, hinting to where the branches are.

Once all the Withering Branches are removed, some Genshin Impact monsters will appear, so defeat them, then walk to the Tumor. Now, there should be an option to remove the Tumor of the Withering. Press on it and the surrounding land should come back to life.

Tips For Destroying The Withering In Sumeru

affected area by the withering in genshin impact

Once players step into an area affected by the Withering, Decay will start to accumulate, indicated by a new bar above the character’s HP bar in Genshin Impact. This debuff will slowly reduce all Elemental RES, Physical RES, and Max HP. The more Decay is accumulated, the more stats players will lose. Once the Decay reaches the maximum, the party will fall and players will be revived at the nearest Waypoint.

Around the Tumor of the Withering, Genshin Impact Travelers can activate an object called Candles of Life to reduce the Decay counter. This function is similar to the Ruin Brazier in Dragonspine that removes Sheer Cold. However, every area of the Withering has its own minimum Decay level, so players won’t get to completely remove the debuff.

In the area, there will sometimes be objects called Fetid Boughs. This object will periodically hone a missile at the players, attacking them and causing more Decay to accumulate. Some enemies in the area also have a special buff. These Disciples of Decay are monsters who have fallen under influence of the Withering. A red aura circles around them, reducing the damage they take from battle. Players can use Dendrograna to remove this buff from the enemy.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
