The fishing gameplay in Genshin Impact 2.1 doesn't only feature five different fish families, but there are also four different baits to obtain. Every species only responds to one type of bait, so it's important to have recipes for all of them.

This new permanent feature has the potential to bring new fish-themed weapons to Genshin Impact. Currently, the one weapon available for exchange is in high demand. This weapon, "The Catch," requires Raimei Angelfish and Kois. There's a very high possibility that more weapons will be available in exchange for different fish.

Updated September 19, 2022, by Nahda Nabiilah: With the Genshin Impact 3.0 update, a new region, Sumeru, is now available. Apart from the lush jungle and barren desert that players will experience, the new area also comes with a new set of fish to catch. Of course, with new species, different types of bait are required to lure them to the Traveler's fishing pole. Eventually, catching these fishes will allow people to get a new bow called End of the Line. Furthermore, a new type of fish, the Rays were also added back in Genshin Impact 2.4. However, this species doesn't require a new bait, rather they settle for the existing Fake Fly Bait.

The first bait players will get is the Fruit Paste Bait. The recipe becomes available as soon as players unlock the fishing feature. Other than Fruit Paste Bait, there are four more available:

  1. Redrot Bait
  2. False Worm Bait
  3. Fake Fly Bait
  4. Sugardew Bait

The first three blueprints can be bought from Nantuck, the angler in Mondstadt. Meanwhile, the recipe for Sugardew Bait is obtainable from Loumelat of the Sumeru Fishing Association. Each of the blueprints requires three Medaka, a common fish that responds to the basic Fruit Paste Bait. After unlocking the recipes, players can craft the baits via the Crafting Table.

Fishing baits are as important as the fishing rod itself. Without it, players won't be able to catch the fish they want. It is also crucial to memorize which fish responds to which bait. Otherwise, players will have a hard time angling in Genshin Impact.

The Fishing Line Stabilizer

A new Genshin Impact gadget is also added to assist players in fishing. This item, Fishing Line Stabilizer is purchasable from any of the members of the Fishing Association for three Medaka. The object can be activated or deactivated from the players' inventory, and when it's activated, it'll automatically ease the fishing process according to how often players have caught the fish they're trying to catch. To be brief, here's what players can roughly expect from the gadget:

  • Less than four fishes caught: No effect
  • Between four and 15 fishes caught: Small buff
  • Over 15 fishes caught: Faster fishing and fishing progress still increase even outside the Ideal Tension Zone
