A Genshin Impact game crash has apparently revealed more information about the new parts of the map that could arrive in the future. While the character roster remains the game's main focus, the addition of a new major region is probably the most exciting event for most Travelers.

Genshin Impact has introduced a new major region named Sumeru in update 3.0 which quickly became a fan-favorite. It seems as though developer HoYoverse don't plan to stop anytime soon when it comes to expanding the world of Teyvat as new parts of Sumeru are expected to be added in the foreseeable future.

Reddit user asian_sock has shared an interesting image claiming that his in-game map went through some changes after the game crashed. These changes include multiple map extensions on various places which probably serve as a placeholder for future regions. The new map shows that new parts of Sumeru could be coming in some of the upcoming updates which credible leakers have already confirmed. Players expect Sumeru to spread to the northwest in update 3.3 which could introduce a new type of vegetation to the game considering that 3.0 added a rainforest and 3.1 brought the game's first desert.

Multiple replies in the comment section have stated that the desert area that was added in Genshin Impact update 3.1 managed to surpass the already high standards set by the rainforest in 3.0 as it includes even more details like characters leaving tracks in the sand while walking. A big part of the community seems satisfied with the overall job HoYoverse has done with Sumeru claiming that interactive world design took the exploration experience to the next level.

Players have noticed that a big part of the map northwest of Mondstadt and Liyue is covered with terrain which could be the placeholder for the next major region which is expected to be Fontaine. The region's representative element is Hydro which means that it will be the home of the Hydro Archon whose name is still unknown. Apart from being the nation of justice, the region is also known for its devotion to arts and technology.

A part of the community claims that while the release of a new major region is always exciting, they would actually prefer if HoYoverse expanded Mondstadt which is the game's starting location. A number of players have stated that even the currently available parts of the region could see some improvements which would include making the region slightly more interactive by adding new Wind Currents.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
