Travelers were recently treated to the first major Genshin Impact event since the game's official release. Though there have been near nonstop treats and bonuses, the game has only experienced one significant, narrative-drive, in-game event, and it seems that number two is already on its way.

Players spent the first days of the Version 1.1 update acquainting themselves with the Unreconciled Stars event, which allowed players to earn a free copy of the character Fischl, among other things. Now, Genshin Impact players have a new unnamed event to look forward to, which is set to feature a brand new sword, and valuable rewards including the coveted Crown of Sagehood.

Aside from the free four-star Fischl, the Unreconciled Stars event offered players their first opportunity to earn a Crown of Sagehood. The Crown of Sagehood is arguably the rarest Talent Ascension Material in Genshin Impact. This valuable crown is available only from events, and is required by every single character in the game. Every Talent requires a single Crown of Sagehood to reach Level 10, so players hoping to max out any, or every, character will want to start collecting them ASAP.

The upcoming event, shared via a tweet by up-and-coming leaker NEP NEP, will feature a sort of resource called Glimmering Tinctures. These sparkling red materials will be used in the event's shop to purchase rewards such as Talent Ascension books, and the aforementioned Crown of Sagehood. On top of this, rumors allege that players will receive a free powerful sword on the first day of this upcoming event. Coupled with the 800 free celebratory Primogems being distributed, it's safe to say that miHoYo is feeling a tad generous as of late.

The new sword will likely be called Festering Fang, and it's supposed to be particularly wonderful when used in tandem with the upcoming Geo character Albedo's Elemental Skill. At a base level, and as of now, the featured sword bears a remarkable passive ability: it increases "Elemental attacks" by 16 percent and CRIT Rate by 4 percent. Players should note that "Elemental attacks" is the leaker's translation, and may refer to Elemental Skills specifically, or Elemental DMG as a whole.

This is currently up for debate until confirmed by a native speaker or further leaks, but regardless, the Festering Fang presents a powerful new weapon, considering that it can only improve upon Enhancement and Refinement.

To that end, players should also assume this new sword will be able to be upgraded, as the leaks also include images of upcoming Achievements, some of which call for players to "Refine the Festering Fang." Perhaps players will be able to achieve a max leveled weapon at a discount rate as part of this event, but for now, Travelers will have to hold tight. Other recent leaks suggest a new food-related event coming to Genshin Impact before this one, so it may be a while before players get to find out. But still, news of another Crown of Sagehood, so soon after the game's first, should be welcomed by most.

Genshin Impact is available now on the App Store, Google Play, PC, and PS4, and is currently in development for Switch.
