Genshin Impact has officially revealed the first teaser for Fontaine, which is expected to be the next major region to arrive to the game. At the moment, players can explore four out of the seven major regions with the Dendro nation Sumeru being the most recent one, arriving back in August 2022.

Developer HoYoverse has been introducing one main region per year. In the last couple of months, credible Genshin Impact leakers have been revealing more details about the next major region and its playable characters.

At the end of Genshin Impact's Special Program event, HoYoverse showed a short teaser about the upcoming Fontaine region. The video shows Aether diving which is unusual considering that the game does not allow players to explore the underwater parts of Teyvat at the moment. This also makes sense lore-wise considering that Fontaine's representative element is Hydro, and it's rumored to be filled with lakes and rivers. Many players think that this could mean that a very large portion of this region will be placed underwater which will add tons of new gameplay mechanics.

Some Travelers have pointed out that the ability to dive underwater could mean that players will potentially be allowed to revisit and explore lakes and rivers that are currently located in the four available locations. This gives more credibility to a popular Genshin Impact theory about a huge underwater domain near Mondstadt. The way the waters around the main city are marked led many players to believe that a huge underground dungeon lies underneath the City of Freedom.

Even though the release of Fontaine is just a couple of months away, there is not a lot of official information about this region. According to an early beta model the main city of Fontaine could be attached to a vertical platform. When it comes to playable characters, recent Genshin Impact leaks have revealed that the first banner of update 4.0 will feature two familiar faces, Lyney and Lynette.

Both of them were featured on one of Genshin Impact's first story teasers. Lyney is expected to be a five-star Pyro character whose primary role is DPS while Lynette is rumored to have a lower four-star rarity and she will use an Anemo Vision.

Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
