Genshin Impact has a wide array of quests that range from easy and intuitive to difficult and confusing. The massive open-world of Genshin Impact includes a small, simple quest that some might need a few tips to get through. This quest is called Margaret's Longing, which will be available to players working through Jean's story quest, Leo Minor Chapter. It happens during the story quest's first act, Master's Day Off.

Updated February 3, 2022, by Scott Vengel: While Liyue and Inazuma have been the headline nations in Genshin Impact for a long time, Mondstadt is still a major nation for players just starting to play the game due to the recent hype around the Lantern Rite Festival. Anticipating that many new players are still having difficulty catching Prince, this guide will be updated to add more detail to the different strategies that players can use.

The city of Mondstadt is huge, with several NPCs that players can chat with, buy things from, or grab quests from. Some of these quests are only available while Jean is sick from overworking. The player-chosen twin Traveler in Genshin Impact decides to help fill in, taking up Jean's job of helping out the citizens of the city. One of these people who needs help is Margaret.

The Quest To Find Prince in Genshin Impact

After completing Jean's When the West Wind Arises story quest, players will be free to tackle three side activities: Margaret's Longing, Charles' Troubles, and Sara's Worries. These can be completed in any order, although Margaret's Longing is a good starting point.

In the city of Mondstadt, players will meet the boss of the Cat's Tail, named Margaret. She says needs help finding her black cat, Prince, who has run off and is hiding somewhere in the city. Venti is upset because the cat has stolen the Anemo-infused astral iron strings needed for his lyre.

Both Venti and Margaret ask the Traveler to find that cat, and Margaret gives the players fish to help in their search. Since the Genshin Impact elemental Anemo strings will give off an elemental glow, this is the first hint to finding the wayward Prince and bringing this little kitty home.

Find And Catch Prince

Using Elemental Sight, the Traveler should be able to sense the wind power infused in the lyre strings that the "Prince Rascal of Mondstadt" has stolen. This will give players an idea of which direction to head first. The trail will look like a teal-colored line dotted with little pawprints of the same color in Elemental Sight, giving the player a kitty trail to follow.

Once the black cat is in view, there are three ways Genshin Impact players can approach him.

  1. First, they can use speed to catch him. Using the fastest movement in Genshin Impact, the bunny-hop, players can try to nab him using the interact button as soon as they are close. Players should slowly sneak near the cat before rushing, as this will prevent the animal from running away too quickly. Additionally, players can ambush the cat from the sky if they manage to get high enough — the rooftops make for a good launching point.
  2. If this fails, players can also try to lure the cat in with the fish that Margaret gave them before snatching him up. This method can be particularly difficult during the first few tries, as the cat will run away as soon as the player moves too close. Perfecting the sneak feature will be vital for completing the quest with this method.
  3. A third way is to try to sneak up on the cat by walking slowly, then freezing in place when the cat turns to face the Traveler. Whichever way players choose, they will need to be careful and quiet in order to catch this wayward cat.

If players miss the cat and he runs off, use Elemental Sight again to pick up his trail and keep trying. Don't be afraid to use fish or speed to lure this fuzzy thief back to his mistress; players will have infinite tries to capture him.

Rewards

Once players have caught the mischievous cat and brought him and the strings back, Margaret will reward the Traveler with 18,000 Mora, one of Genshin Impact's in-game currencies, 300 Adventure Points, two Hero's Wit, and four Mystic Enhancement Ore.

Although not one of the fastest ways of boosting Adventure Rank in Genshin Impact, the quest reward should be worth the few minutes it will take to nab that furry thief and bring him back to his mom.

Genshin Impact is available for Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Nintendo Switch version is also in development.
