Genshin Impact is one of the many modern games that have taken advantage of the popularity of open-world settings. This paid off by transforming the continent of Teyvat into a vast and immersive landscape reminiscent of Breath of the Wild, but it also has its downsides. Now, a group of Genshin Impact fans is calling for a big quality of life improvement that would make clearing the game much less stressful.

There are many regions in Genshin Impact with more being added frequently, all of which are studded with chests, mora, seelies, and other secrets. Actually finding all of these concealed rewards can be a slow and painful process. This is especially true since even reaching 100% in a region doesn't guarantee that every secret has been found.

Redditor LightningShado kicked off the discussion with a post begging miHoYo to change Genshin Impact's map so that any remaining secrets show up after players have reached 100% on a given region. This quality of life change would make exploring Teyvat much less stressful for concerned players. LightningShado described feeling perpetually paranoid that they'd missed materials or primogems in an area they'd already cleared. They also wondered why miHoYo hadn't added this small but useful feature to the game from the start.

Another user, ArkassEX, stated that even if a full map upgrade isn't in the cards, miHoYo should give the treasure compass unlimited range. They also suggested the compass should lock onto chests hidden by puzzles and mechanisms, which can be easy to overlook.

TheQuestionableDuck built on this by stating that with the current treasure-finding mechanics, players in 2025 would still be looking all over the map for a single common chest missed in Mondstadt. A third user observed that miHoYo seems to be collecting data on the most commonly missed chests and occasionally holds an event near these locations.

Their fellow Redditor July-Thirty-First suggested an alternate solution: miHoYo could sync gamers' exploration completion status to the official Genshin Impact interactive map. This would allow the map to update in real-time based on what puzzles have been added to the game--and what puzzles the player has completed. However, this would require miHoYo to update the official interactive map regularly, which some users complain the company does not do. More users expressed that they were tired of searching for chests and taking new routes that weren't marked on the official map to try and reach 100% region completion.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
