Genshin Impact is only two months into its official existence, but the hit RPG is enjoying quite the fall season. Between its first major update and in-game event, and a series of nonstop announcements and leaks, players have had plenty of material to keep up with.
Most recently, Travelers have been alerted to yet another upcoming event by Twitter-based Genshin Impact leaker NEP NEP. Following in the footsteps of Unreconciled Stars, it seems that the next big in-game event will feature a new sort of harvestable material, along with possibly new enemies.
NEP NEP confirms that the upcoming event's name remains unknown, but several leaks are circulating Genshin Impact's rumor mills. This next event is said to come with the expected December 23 update, which is supposed to introduce players to the already-visible, but inaccessible, Dragonspine region. Seeing as the mountainous region is covered in ice, it's no surprise that many of its features seem to feature the Cryo Element.
Spotted among the new leaked enemies are a Frost Mitachurl, and a sort of upgraded Ruin Guard. These pictured enemies are presented alongside two new sorts of materials, one of which (the red one) is apparently dubbed "Glimmering Tincture." Glimmering Tincture is to the upcoming new event what Fading Star's Might/Essence were to Unreconciled Stars. That is, players will use this red crystalline material to purchase rewards from the upcoming event's Event Shop.
As per the leaked images, Travelers will have access to at least a "Field Trial," which apparently rewards Glimmering Tinctures upon successful completion. As of now, the shining red materials will be exchanged for Talent Ascension Materials and even a priceless Crown of Sagehood, so it seems that this event will be a bit less casual than some of the other current ongoings.
Recent leaks implied that players should expect a food delivery event joining the new gliding event in Genshin Impact, but even that one only seems to feature a handful of Primogems as rewards. Nonetheless, some other known information from the leaked images includes the following terminology: Miraculous Tinctures, Festering Fang, Warm Tinctures, and Rime-Worn Crystals.
These are all terms used throughout a series of upcoming Achievements, which are possibly, but not positively, related to the upcoming event. The "Field Trial" challenge text also mentions a Festering Fang growing in power, so it's likely at least that is related to the event. Likewise, the Achievements stipulate that the player must "Refine" the Festering Fang, which implies it's a weapon. This makes sense considering part of the recent leak asserts that miHoYo will gift players a unique, powerful sword on the first day of this event.
Leading theories assume that the Festering Fang, or at least part of it, is a special sword that's particularly great for new Geo character Albedo, and that players will receive it and upgrade it as part of the event. Glimmering Tinctures will be used throughout the event to redeem rare rewards, some of which may be needed for the reward sword.
Genshin Impact is available now on the App Store, Google Play, PC, and PS4, and is currently in development for Switch.
