Genshin Impact recently released the 1.5 update for the game bringing back the Zhongli banner and introducing new four-star character Yanfei. The next banner has been revealed to feature Eula, a brand new five-star character that wields a claymore and Cryo vision. Although she was leaked alongside Yanfei a while back, it wasn't until recently that a character trailer for her storyline was released.

While Eula's animations, elemental skill, and elemental burst haven't been officially showcased, the leaks imply that she will easily be the strongest physical DPS character in the game thanks to her strong base stats. Furthermore, she has resistance to interruption built into her skills making her a sturdy frontline character. Genshin Impact players lacking a physical damage dealer in their compositions might want to roll for Eula when her banner releases.

Eula's Attacks, Elemental Skill, and Elemental Burst

Eula's normal attack animations are a little different than most Genshin Impact claymore users in that she has a pattern of five consecutive strikes instead of the typical four. The only other claymore character which has five strikes is Beidou and this factor is a big part of why Eula excels at physical damage. At level 90, Eula also has a base attack stat of 342 which is the second highest in the game, only behind Xiao at 349. Eula's ascension stat is crit damage which further strengthens her role as a main DPS.

Eula's elemental skill is called "Icetide Vortex" and has a press and hold function. When Genshin Impact players press the skill, Eula slashes an enemy dealing Cryo damage while gaining a buff called Grimheart. Grimheart can be stacked up to two times and they give Eula more defense and resistance to interruption. Players can also hold the skill which deals AOE Cryo damage while consuming the Grimheart stacks to reduce enemy resistance to physical and Cryo damage.

Eula's elemental burst is called "Glacial Illumination" and deals Cryo damage to nearby enemies while creating a Lightfall Sword. The Lightfall Sword follows Eula for a set duration while increasing her resistance to interruption. When Eula deals damage through her attacks, elemental skill or elemental burst, the Lightfall Sword charges with energy stacks that explode once the duration ends, dealing physical damage. The damage will scale with the number of stacks accumulated on the Lightfall Sword.

Eula's Strength in Physical Damage

As Eula's elemental skill and elemental burst center around buffing her physical damage, it's clear that she's suited for the main DPS role. While physical damage dealers usually fall off in Genshin Impact's late game due to the lack of elemental reactions, Eula's base stats are more than enough to make up for it. Previously, Razor was the strongest physical damage character but his Electro element and four-star status held him back.

With Eula's release, she easily becomes the strongest physical damage dealer in the game thanks to her ability to naturally decrease enemy resistance to physical damage. Furthermore, her Cryo status is much more flexible than Electro to build Superconduct supports around as Cryo also has strong reactions with other elements. The newest domain in Genshin Impact also brings an artifact set centered around physical damage which further strengthens Eula's kit. Genshin Impact players who are lacking a strong physical damage dealer or DPS character in general might want to roll for Eula.

Genshin Impact is out now for mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5, and is currently in development for Switch.
