Mondstadt and its vast surrounding areas serve as the introduction of Genshin Impact. Players first spawn on the beach near Starfell Lake and traverse the wilderness before reaching the first Statue of the Seven, which is based on the Anemo Archon known as Barbatos. The city of Mondstadt is seen on the horizon and the player eventually meets Amber, a protector of Mondstadt, and the city's colorful population of characters. Reddit user u/Yorgh-Drakeblood discussed a puzzling detail about Dr. Edith and Ella Musk, as dialogue reveals that Ella is the older sibling. However, Ella appears to be a young child while Dr. Edith is a fully grown adult. The relationship between the Musk sisters is not further explained in Genshin Impact, encouraging speculation surrounding Ella's true age amongst players. Currently, Ella may be found inside the Mondstadt library or found near Hilichurl camps in areas surrounding Mondstadt. Dr. Edith usually patrols the area around the Statue of the Seven in Windrise.

Another possibility shrouded in speculation is Ella's growth being stunted, but there's a lack of concrete evidence to point in that direction. Answers could lie within the game's development history since miHoYo originally designed Ella as an adult in the Genshin Impact beta. Beta tester feedback encouraged miHoYo to add children into the game in order to make Genshin Impact's world more believable and diverse. As a result, dialogue pertaining to Ella's older counterpart was possibly left unchanged.
