Today is Diona's birthday, and to celebrate it, Genshin Impact has given away two items to players for free. However, one item has no current use in-game, but it's possible that it might be important in the future.

Diona is a newer character on the Genshin Impact roster, released alongside the Version 1.2 update as the first four-star character be released post-launch. She's proven to be an essential support member for players in need of a Cryo or bow user, but some players even run her as a DPS with the right build. Diona may not hold a candle to Ganyu but is otherwise an effective Cryo/bow character for free-to-play players.

Though Diona is a bartender at the Cat's Tail Tavern, she wants nothing more than to tear down Mondstadt's wine industry. She even dubs herself "Wine Industry Slayer," a title that is difficult to uphold when Mondstadt's residents love her drinks. In Diona's birthday message, she specifically states that she attempted to make the "worst-tasting cocktail ever" by grinding up Golden Loach Pearls and putting the powder into drinks. Unfortunately, it became a successful drink and her patrons loved the strange concoction.

With the message, Diona gives the player 10 Loach Pearls and her specialty recipe, Definitely Not Bar Food! The player has a chance of creating Definitely Not Bar Food! when cooking Mondstadt Grilled Fish with Diona. It revives and restores 10% of a character's maximum health and an additional 150 HP. Unfortunately, it's not as useful as many other food items in Genshin Impact.

But Diona also gives away 10 Loach Pearls, which currently have no use in Genshin Impact. Loach Pearls can be normally obtained by catching Golden Loaches around Liyue, near Dihua Marsh and Stone Gate. While other birthday messages offer useful items such as character Ascension materials and special food items, Loach Pearls aren't used for any kind of crafting or Ascension, at least, not yet.

Some Genshin Impact players theorize that the Loach Pearls might be used for something or someone soon. Many are hoping that it won't be used for Ascension because of how hard it is to catch Golden Loaches, but perhaps it will be used for future weapons. Version 1.2 introduced new weapons and crafting materials, and Version 1.3 is rumored to have new weapons.

While Inazuma likely won't release until Version 1.4, following fan speculation that Genshin Impact's story will continue to revolve around Liyue for the time being, it's probable that Inazuma will also introduce new weaponry to fit upcoming characters.

Genshin Impact is available now on the App Store, Google Play, PC, and PS4, and is currently in development for Switch.
