Genshin Impact's update 3.0 has introduced a new major region named Sumeru as well as its representative Dendro element. The new element has introduced a number of new elemental reactions which have given more depth to the game's combat system.

Players are able to have up to four different characters in their party, all of whom can have different elements. A new post on the popular Genshin Impact subreddit shows that the new Dendro element is one of the best additions HoYoverse has made to the game.

Genshin Impact's combat mechanics revolve around triggering various elemental reactions with different effects. With the new update 3.0, players now have the option to apply seven additional reactions that are tied with the Dendro element. Redditor bluepiggy121 has revealed that they managed to have a perfect score on the current rotation of the Spiral Abyss which is the hardest piece of content in the game. They've managed to accomplish this by using Keqing who was considered by many to be an outdated character DPS character. However, the new element has given the opportunity for older characters to come back into the meta.

Keqing has huge DPS potential with a new team composition that revolves around a new elemental reaction named Aggravate. This is considered a sub-reaction since the only way to trigger Aggravate is by applying Electro damage to enemies that have a Quicken aura around them. Aggravate's effect will grant a damage buff to the Electro character that triggers the reaction. This means that in order to fully utilize this type of team composition, players need to have Dendro and Electro users.

The new version of the Traveler as well as the free four-star character Collei have proven to be good Dendro supports as they have the ability to apply AoE Dendro damage on the field. Another elemental reaction that could bring Pyro DPS characters back to the meta is named Burgeon. Just like Aggravate, this is considered a sub-reaction that can be triggered by applying Pyro to Dendro Seeds which can be dropped by combining Hydro and Dendro.

It's difficult to define the strongest elemental reaction at the moment considering that the new effects are so diverse. What might work for one group of opponents, could be slightly weaker against a different set of enemies. The new element has given much-needed flexibility when it comes to building the right team composition in Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact is now available on mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development with no confirmed release date.
