One of the objectives in Genshin Impact’s The Servant’s Path Archon Quest instructs players to complete the Anti-Raiden Shogun Training. While this instruction is quite straightforward, actually completing the quest step can prove to be fairly difficult. Indeed, many fans seem to be struggling with the Anti-Raiden Shogun Training in Genshin Impact, and this guide is here to provide some tips that players can attempt to incorporate into their strategies.

Updated on January 27, 2022, by Scott Vengel: While Lantern Rite is in full swing as of version 2.4, many players are just starting to complete the storyline in Inazuma. Part of this is due to the vast amount of veteran players returning to Genshin Impact due to the event, as well as the plethora of new players just starting to play now. As such, many players are just starting the Anti-Raiden Shogun Training, which has been remarked as one of the more difficult trials in Inazuma. In order to better assist players starting the trial, this article will be updated to add more detail about the attacks found in the Anti-Raiden Shogun Training, as well as other aspects of the time challenge.

How to Complete the Anti-Raiden Shogun Training in Genshin Impact

Completing the Anti-Raiden Shogun Training primarily centers around avoiding three different attacks that are deployed by the device that is at the center of the dome; players cannot be hit by more than three attacks if they want to pass the trial. One of those attacks sees the device surround itself with an Electric Field, and it can be completely nullified by staying near to the edge of the dome. It is thus recommended that players keep their Genshin Impact characters in that position for the duration of the training, as doing so will reduce the number of attacks that they must worry about by one.

With respect to the other two attacks, both of them must be dodged. The most consistent way to do that is to keep a character circling the edge of the dome at all times. Then, when the device makes a noise, players should quickly press dodge to get out of the way of the attack before they are hit. Notably, nailing the timing on this can be very challenging, especially when playing Genshin Impact on mobile or with high ping, and it may take numerous attempts before a fan gets it down.

The second of three major attack patterns in the Anti-Raiden Shogun trial, the Lightning Strike attack has multiple bolts of Electro energy hit in a single location. Dodging this attack is simple, as the player just needs to dash quickly to avoid these lightning strikes. Most of the time, the beacon will launch two lightning strikes at a time.

In the final attack pattern, the beacon will launch a volley of Electro Slashes at the player. Each occurrence of this attack pattern during the trial will launch two or three slashes, so players should be prepared to avoid more than one attack. There is a brief pause in between each slash that gives players a bit of leeway to dodge and reorganize in an emergency.

In order to best avoid these slashes, the player will want to be constantly moving. This will automatically dodge the slashes, as they are aimed to hit where the player is at the moment they are launched. That said, players will also want to avoid holding down the sprint button, as this will leave them with too little stamina to avoid quicker attacks; using the dash action often will help to regulate stamina when it is low.

Generally, the trial will follow a simple pattern:

  1. The trial will launch an Electric Field attack — players should use this as a base to predict which attacks will follow.
  2. The beacon will then typically launch either an Electro Slash attack or a Lightning Strike attack, followed by the attack that wasn't launched.
  3. After these two attacks, the beacon will often launch another Electro Field attack.

However, players should not be surprised if this pattern does not hold up each time; the Anti-Raiden Shogun trial does have a little variation to keep people on their toes.

As the timer for the Anti-Raiden Shogun Training draws near to zero, several orbs will appear. Players must destroy one of these orbs very quickly in order to avoid being hit by the device’s finishing move, and fast damage is key here. Pyro characters in Genshin Impact are great for breaking these orbs, though it is important that players avoid burning themselves, as doing so will result in immediate failure of the challenge.

After successfully avoiding the finishing move, Genshin Impact players will be sent to speak with Yae Miko. This NPC is located extremely close to where the Anti-Raiden Shogun Training was performed, but talking to her does not mark the end of the Servant’s Path Archon Quest. Indeed, players will need to complete some more training and visit the Grand Narukami Shrine before everything is said and done.

Genshin Impact is available for Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5 with a Switch version in development.
