Back to All Characters

The release of Dendro in Genshin Impact is likely one of the best moments for the game so far. After almost two years of waiting, people can finally enjoy several Dendro characters, including the Dendro Traveler.

Other than the obvious Dendro MC, the release of Dendro in version 3.0 also brings Collei and Tighnari. Tighnari is an offensive unit, while Collei is more supportive. Although the Forest Ranger Trainee is rather straightforward to use, there are still some things Genshin Impact players may get wrong, here are some examples.

6 Not Knowing Her Differences With Dendro Traveler

Both Collei and Dendro Traveler are great at being an off-field support in Genshin Impact. They have a great Dendro application and are a decent sub-DPS. However, despite sharing the same role, the two characters have significant differences too. Here’s a brief summary of Collei VS Dendro Traveler:

  • Collei’s Skill has a longer cooldown, but it hits twice. Collei also gains the Sprout effect from her Skill, which increases her Dendro application.
  • Collei’s Burst hits faster than Dendro MC, but it has a smaller AoE. However, despite having a smaller AoE, Collei has a larger hitbox than Dendro MC.
  • Collei’s ultimate doesn’t react to any Element, so players can use her with everyone. Meanwhile, Dendro Traveler’s Elemental Burst is affected by Pyro, Hydro, and Electro. Most notably, Pyro will cause Dendro MC’s Burst to explode, completely removing it from the field. Because of this, players should be careful when playing Dendro MC with Pyro.
  • Collei’s Constellations mostly enhance her own damage, while Dendro Traveler’s Constellations are more supportive.
  • Collei’s Burst has a lower Energy requirement than Dendro MC’s.

5 Not Using Supportive Artifact Sets

Using 4-Gilded Dreams on Collei can indeed make her a better damage dealer, assuming someone else on the team uses 4-Deepwood Memories. Otherwise, 4-Deepwood is a far better option, not only for Collei but also for the whole team. Other than Deepwood Memories, players who wish to get the most out of Collei’s supportive value can also use different artifact sets like 4-Noblesse Oblige or 4-Instructor.

Noblesse Oblige grants the team +20% ATK after Collei uses her Burst, meanwhile, Instructor increases the whole team’s Elemental Mastery (EM) by 120 after she triggers an Elemental Reaction. 120 Elemental Mastery isn’t impressive for transformative reactions like Bloom, Hyperbloom, and Burgeon, but it’s great for Spread and Aggravate.

4 Overestimating Her At Triggering Spread

With two hits on her Elemental Skill, two on her Sprout hits (four at C2), and around 15 hits on her Elemental Burst, Collei theoretically should be a great contender at triggering the Spread Elemental Reaction in Genshin Impact. Unfortunately, her ability at triggering Spread isn’t as good as it is on paper.

Collei will trigger one Spread when she throws her Elemental Skill, one Spread on her Sprout (two at C2), and if she’s the only Dendro character in the team, around three Spread on her ultimate. Elemental Mastery is still an excellent stat for Collei in Genshin Impact, but because of her limitations at triggering Spread, ATK is as competitive as EM.

3 Building Collei Purely To Deal Off-Field Damage

Considering the number of supportive potential Collei holds, building her purely to deal damage is a rather poor choice. Other than using artifact sets that boost the team, the Forest Ranger Trainee can also be equipped with weapons that hold supportive instead of offensive values. Additionally, players can focus on stats that enhance her viability as a Dendro enabler, like Energy Recharge instead of ATK and Elemental Mastery.

Until a better Dendro enabler comes along, Collei is an excellent option for the role. If players are in doubt about raising her, then Dendro Traveler is a great alternative in Genshin Impact.

2 Focuses Too Much On Collei’s Constellations

Unlike the typical 4-star units in Genshin Impact, Collei is highly functional even at zero Constellation. Her C1 is a simple Energy restoration buff, her C2 is a little extra Dendro application, while her C6 is a little extra damage. Other than her fourth Constellation which enhances the entire team’s Elemental Mastery, the rest of Collei’s Constellations are quite negligible.

Because of this, players shouldn’t worry too much about getting copies of Collei. But if Travelers wish to push for her Constellations, then C4 is definitely the go-to.

1 Using The Wrong Weapons

For Collei’s best weapons in Genshin Impact, players can either focus on damage or support. For damage dealing, Bows like Aqua Simulacra, Polar Star, Skyward Harp, Thundering Pulse, The Stringless, Alley Hunter, and Fading Twilight are all great options.

Meanwhile, if players wish to maximize Collei’s potential, then Venti’s signature weapon, Elegy for the End, is currently her best option. Other than that, Travelers can opt for Favonius Warbow to enhance the team’s Energy restoration, or Sacrificial Bow to ensure more Dendro application. However, note that low-refinement Sacrificial Bow is not very effective on Collei as the passive has a long cooldown.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
