Genshin Impact has consistently expanded its playable character base since its release in 2020, and version 3.4 promises to be no different. Of late, HoYoverse has committed to faster update times, implementing a five-week update schedule as opposed to the previous six-week timeline with the release of Genshin Impact Version 3.3. As is custom with upcoming updates, speculation has been flying around among fans as some eager gamers scour the web for any clues of what the latest Genshin Impact version will hold. Genshin Impact 3.3 brought characters that have quickly become fan favorites such as the Wanderer and Faruzan, and Genshin Impact 3.4 will introduce franchise faithful to a new character called Yaoyao.

Fans have eagerly awaited the arrival of Yaoyao since she appeared in the manga as the franchise's first Dendro character, and though it has taken a while for HoYoverse to satisfy consumers, anticipation for her character has not waned in the slightest. Many expect Yaoyao to be a four-star Genshin Impact character, and her backstory will likely appeal to a large portion of players. With her rumored abilities as a Polearm user, she adds an extra dimension to a team of characters.

Yaoyao's Backstory and Adepti Treasure May Make Her a Quick Favorite

Genshin Impact character Yaoyao

Yaoyao has an assigned affiliation of Disciple of the Streetward Rambler due to her relationship with Madame Ping, which is perceived as a loving grandmother-granddaughter dynamic by the people of Liyue Harbor. Yaoyao is assumed to be a Polearm user in part due to her relationship with Xiangling, who is also a disciple of Madame Ping. Although Yaoyao is the youngest disciple under Madame Ping's tutelage, she plays the role of an elder sister to her seniors like Xiangling, who is often confused by the odd behavior.

Yaoyao's actual abilities have not yet been officially revealed, but Genshin Impact is a hot topic among leakers and there's a substantial trove of information surrounding Yaoyao's capabilities in-game. According to these leaks, Yaoyao has an adepti treasure crafted by the Cloud Retainer called Yuegui, which follows her everywhere and grants Yaoyao her Elemental Skill named the Raphanus Sky Cluster. The Elemental Skill calls upon Yuegui: Throwing Mode, a unique device built by the adeptus to aid Yaoyao in her battles. Yuegui: Throwing Mode launches White Jade Radishes at opponents that will explode on impact, dealing Dendro damage to characters within a certain AoE.

Yaoyao's Elemental Burst Is Useful on Offense and Defense

The White Jade Radishes can reportedly serve two purposes on the battlefield, as it can also work to replenish teammates' health depending on Yaoyao's max HP. It operates selectively - if nearby allies have HP above 70% on average, Yuegui: Throwing Mode throws the White Jade Radishes at a nearby opponent to cause damage. However, if the HP of nearby allies is below 70% on average, Yuegui launches the radishes at the character with the lowest remaining HP. Yaoyao's Elemental Skill lasts 10 seconds with a cooldown of 15 seconds.

Yaoyao also supposedly has an Elemental Burst called Moonjade Descent, a skill Genshin Impact players can use in an emergency that unleashes Yuegui's full potential by sending it into an Adeptal Legacy state. In this state, Yuegui can launch White Jade Radishes that can both deal damage to opponents and heal allies - as opposed to only one performable function in Yaoyao's Elemental Skill. The allure of Yaoyao's Elemental Burst may be too much for gamers to resist, and as always, players are trying to get a headstart on farming enough materials to max out Yaoyao once she's available. To upgrade Yaoyao from level one to 90, gamers will need to acquire some Primary Ascension Materials, Slime drops, and Dendro Hypostasis drops.

The Primary Ascension materials include one Nagadus Emerald Silver, nine Nagadus Emerald Fragment, nine Nagadus Emerald Chunk, and six Nagadus Emerald Gemstone. The Slime drops players will need for maxing out Yaoyao are 18 Slime Condensate, 30 Slime Secretions, and 36 Slime Concentrate, while 46 Quelled Creeper satisfies the Dendro Hypostasis drops requirements. Other items needed include; 168 Jueyun Chili, 412 Hero's Wit + 2 Wanderer's Advice, and 420,000 Mora. Yaoyao is yet another solid building block from HoYoverse to build Genshin Impact's revenue in the ever-changing gaming industry, and if the rumors are anything to go by, Yaoyao should usher in another successful version of Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
