The 1.5 update for Genshin Impact saw the release of new characters Eula and Yanfei. With over 30 characters in the game now, some Genshin Impact characters have moved to different tiers as their relative power increased or decreased compared to newer additions. As most Genshin Impact players have reached the endgame or are close by now, many of the rankings have stabilized and there aren't too many surprises this time around.

It's important to note that Genshin Impact tier lists are recommendations rather than requirements, with even the weakest characters having the ability to shine with proper investments and team compositions. The rankings in this tier list are based on general usefulness in all Genshin Impact content, without any constellation upgrades and in their most common roles.

S Tier

Genshin Impact characters in the S Tier trivialize much of the game's content with minimal investment. Main DPS characters like Ganyu and Hu Tao output more raw damage than any other character without factoring in their ability for elemental reactions. On the other hand, Venti's crowd control and Zhongli's defensive capabilities are unparalleled and can fit in any team composition.

Ganyu (Cryo, Main DPS)

Venti (Anemo, Utility)

Hu Tao (Pyro, Main DPS)

Zhongli (Geo, Utility)

A Tier

Genshin Impact characters in the A Tier are incredibly strong but often require some investment into their party members. Main DPS characters like Klee and Xiao can easily output damage numbers comparable to their S Tier counterparts but usually need a better supporting cast to achieve it. Similarly, the Utility characters like Xingqiu and Bennett have S Tier potential, but Genshin Impact players might need to roll some constellations before they really shine. The newest character Eula is the best physical damage dealer in the game, so long as players invest in a solid Electro support for Superconduct reactions.

Xiao (Anemo, Main DPS)

Bennett (Pyro, Utility)

Diluc (Pyro, Main DPS)

Albedo (Geo, Sub DPS)

Mona (Hydro, Utility)

Xingqiu (Hydro, Utility)

Childe (Hydro, Main DPS)

Eula (Cryo, Main DPS)

Diona (Cryo, Utility)

B Tier

B Tier characters in Genshin Impact are usually flexible characters that have a few drawbacks or noticeable flaws that keep them from the higher tiers. For example, Keqing and Fischl output considerable damage but are ultimately limited by their weak Electro element and its lack of strong reactions. Jean is also a perfect example of a B Tier character, as she is a jack of all trades but master of none. New character Yanfei is in this tier as her damage is quite strong but has poor energy recharge.

Rosaria (Cryo, Main DPS)

Yanfei (Pyro, Main DPS)

Sucrose (Anemo, Utility)

Qiqi (Cryo, Healer)

Barbara (Hydro, Healer)

C Tier

Genshin Impact Wolf's Gravestone Glowing Claymore Beidou Pirate

C Tier characters require heavy investment into artifacts, constellations, and party members in order to shine. The Main DPS characters here simply can't match the capabilities of higher tier characters unless a Genshin Impact player invests a massive amount of resources. On the other hand, Sub DPS characters like Xiangling and Kaeya have their potential gated by constellations and can't provide the same utility that 5-star characters can.

Kaeya (Cryo, Sub DPS)

Chongyun (Cryo, Sub DPS)

Beidou (Electro, Main DPS)

Xiangling (Pyro, Sub DPS)

Razor (Electro, Main DPS)

Traveler (Geo/Anemo, Sub DPS)

D Tier

Genshin Impact characters in the D Tier can potentially rival higher tiers but they require a lot of investment for very little payoff. Despite the jokes about the free characters like Amber and Lisa, they actually have a surprising amount of utility in content like the Spiral Abyss. However, this is usually locked behind constellation upgrades, and given they never appear as rate-up characters, it's quite difficult to unlock their full potential.

Amber (Pyro, Sub DPS)

Lisa (Electro, Sub DPS)

Xinyan (Pyro, Utility)

Noelle (Geo, Utility)

Genshin Impact is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5.
