Genshin Impact recently treated its fans to a Special Program livestreamed on Youtube, and hosted by none other than Paimon herself. The stream took players on a detailed tour of the upcoming Dragonspine area, while also covering several new features, like the upcoming event dubbed "The Chalk Prince and the Dragon."

Travelers will be able to explore a variety of new content with Version 1.2 and the mountainous Dragonspine region it brings, but it seems that one Genshin Impact character in particular will be getting some extra special attention. The upcoming Geo alchemy master, Albedo, will apparently have his own event, similar to how Fischl was integral throughout the recent Unreconciled Stars event.

Unfortunately, while Unreconciled Stars allowed players to earn a free four-star character, it's unlikely that players will receive a free Albedo from the upcoming Chalk Prince and the Dragon event, simply because Albedo is actually going to be one of the game's new five-star characters. He'll be introduced to the game together with Ganyu during Version 1.2, though it's currently unclear whether or not they'll arrive together, or one at a time. Regardless of sequence, Albedo's event will allow players to earn and upgrade a valuable new weapon, while also collecting Talent Ascension Materials and the like as rewards.

Zhongli was the character released just this month, with Childe having been introduced shortly before that, and both of them have been featured parts of the game's main story line. While Albedo has been largely absent (save for a few mentions by Sucrose), the Version 1.2 Livestream confirmed that he will not only be receiving a Story Quest as part of the update, but also an entire event line. The Chalk Prince event will function as a direct sequel to Albedo's Story Quest, in fact, players won't be able to access it until his Story Quest is complete.

Aside from that, players have a general overview of the event's structure. Act I of IV will be unlocked by completing Albedo's Story Quest, while the other Acts will unlock subsequently over time. Each Act presents its own set of "Challenge Quests," and allows Travelers to gather up Crimson Agate, which function as event currency. Players will also receive a special sword from Albedo upon beginning the event. The sword, which can be upgraded as the event unfolds, appears to possess some sort of negative influence that debuffs the player while in use - perhaps enhancing it and completing the event's Challenges strips the negative influence away?

Crimson Agate is also confirmed to be tied to the Frostbearing Tree, a new area that will be tucked away within Dragonspine, so it's unclear whether the event uses natural resources as a currency, or the Frostbearing Tree is somehow linked to this specific event.

Nonetheless, the Crimson Agate can be exchanged for Ascension Materials, as well as mora, and a priceless Crown of Sagehood. The Chalk Prince event will mark players' second opportunity ever to earn a Crown of Sagehood, a much anticipated offering when one considers the fact that they're needed by every single character. And whether or not players acquire Albedo, they can also look forward to enhancing an awesome new purple sword as part of the event.

Genshin Impact is available now on the App Store, Google Play, PC, and PS4, and is currently in development for PS5 and Switch.
