A picture posted online speculates about a potential roadmap for updates to Genshin Impact in 2023, though no official details about release dates for updates to HoYoverse’s hit game have been confirmed. After recent leaks gave fans hints about new Genshin Impact characters and locations, excitement for the upcoming additions to the game has reached all-time highs.

Released in 2020 by Chinese developer and publisher HoYoverse, Genshin Impact is an open-world action RPG that has garnered a massive fan following and received generally positive reviews from critics. Genshin Impact takes place in a land called Tevyat made up of seven nations each ruled by a different deity, and the player takes on the role of twin searching for their lost sibling after the two were separated from one another by a god. Featuring a gameplay loop based around exploration and combat, Genshin Impact allows players to enjoy the game solo or with up to 3 other players in a co-operative multiplayer mode.

In a picture posted to r/Genshin_Impact, user izzykuroneko laid out what they expect the release roadmap for Genshin Impact will be in 2023. The proposed release calendar shows 9 expected new versions of the game, with a livestream preview expected to take place roughly two weeks before each release. Though HoYoverse has yet to release an official roadmap for updates to Genshin Impact in 2023, izzykuroneko used previous years’ release dates to inform his estimates and has posted similar speculative release calendars for the game in the past. After the recent 3.1 update to the game, which introduced the barren deserts of the Sumeru region to Genshin Impact, fans are already speculating about what new additions could be introduced to the title in 2023.

Although the proposed release map posted follows Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse’s usual cycle of releasing a new patch roughly every 6 weeks, izzykuroneko notes that the release dates could change if HoYoverse doesn’t return to their usual release cycle starting with version 3.3. In response to questions from other posters about potential errors in their proposed release schedule, izzykuroneko stated that they will update the calendar as new information becomes available. Fans already have some idea of what to expect in the upcoming version 3.2 of the game, which will add playable characters Nahida and Layla along with the massive new Genshin Impact boss Scaramouche.

Despite some controversies upon launch about borrowing influences from Breath of the Wild, Genshin Impact has grown to be one of the most successful online games on the market. The success of the titles isn’t just limited to PC and consoles, either, with a recent report indicating that Genshin Impact's mobile version has made over $3 billion. Regardless of whether this release calendar proves to be accurate, it’s clear that Genshin Impact fans can’t get enough of this unique and stylish RPG.

Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
