Genshin Impact continues to evolve as a regularly updated open-world RPG, with HoYoverse making some changes involving its development efforts for the game. As Genshin Impact version 3.0 approaches, HoYoverse is adopting a new schedule with major changes involving the release of future updates.

Each version of Genshin Impact brings new events and stories to explore with a growing cast of characters. The 3.0 update follows the framework of past updates such as Genshin Impact version 2.0, which introduced the highly anticipated region of Inazuma. The fourth nation of Teyvat, Sumeru, makes its long awaited debut with version 3.0, and players will encounter characters attuned to the element of Dendro. Before the major update launches, HoYoverse is shifting its update schedule for Genshin Impact.

HoYoverse announced its new update schedule for Genshin Impact, revealing planned release dates and version duration for versions 3.0 through 3.3. Genshin Impact versions 3.0 through 3.2 will last roughly five weeks each instead of the traditional six-week duration. The development team at HoYoverse will adjust its content plan accordingly without reducing gameplay content found in each update. Additionally, the Genshin Impact Battle Pass is adjusted to compensate for the new five-week duration. Players may level up the Battle Pass by earning 900 EXP for each BP level in Genshin Impact versions 3.0 through 3.2.

Genshin Impact version 3.0 releases on August 24, followed by the release of version 3.1 on September 28 and the release of version 3.2 on November 2. Genshin Impact version 3.3 is planned to release on December 7, and the update schedule is expected to return to the standard six-week duration. Furthermore, EXP required to level up the Battle Pass is expected to revert to 1,000 EXP per level. Release dates for versions 3.0 through 3.3 are subject to change.

Genshin Impact version duration changes were rumored for weeks as players awaited news about version 3.0. Although the duration is reduced to five weeks, players may still experience the same amount of content as originally planned according to HoYoverse. The developer reassures fans that content is not being cut for the sake of shorter update duration.

HoYoverse is likely releasing content at a faster pace to compensate for the delay of Genshin Impact version 2.7. However, HoYoverse must be careful about potential FOMO (fear of missing out) within the Genshin Impact community. A shorter duration brings the possibility of some players missing out on limited-time events, which could lead to controversy.

Genshin Impact is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. A Nintendo Switch version is in development with no confirmed release date.
