Back to All Characters

Genshin Impact 2.0 brings a character that players have waited for so long. This character is Ayaka, the Ice Princess of the Kamisato Estate. Ayaka was previously playable in the Closed Beta Test of Genshin Impact, so players have been anticipating her arrival since the release of the game.

Ayaka excels as the main DPS on a team. The Ice Princess has excellent damage, and she's easy to use too. Most of Ayaka's kit is similar to the one in the Closed Beta Test, which makes it even more thrilling for the fans. There are a lot of characters that would fit in a party with Ayaka, but the following are the best.

Updated March 20, 2023, by Nahda Nabiilah: Long after the initial release of Kamisato Ayaka in Genshin Impact, she still maintains her spot on the list of the best DPS in the game. However, while her prowess doesn't see a large shift, there sure are some changes in Ayaka's best teammates. For example, she works brilliantly with other Hydro units like Kokomi and Ayato, and Cryo even got their own dedicated support, Shenhe. Therefore, this article is now updated to ensure this article includes all the viable characters for Ayaka team comp in Genshin Impact.

Freeze Team

Xingqiu and Barbara in Genshin Impact

Ayaka can easily benefit from the 4-Blizzard Strayer artifact. To get the most out of this effect, players have to keep the enemies frozen. For this purpose, Ayaka needs to be accompanied by at least one of the following Hydro characters.

For the other two slots, players can bring a Cryo and an Anemo character into the mix. Cryo provides Elemental Resonance, and Anemo offers resistance reduction and crowd control.

Mona

From Mona's teaser

Mona has an amazing Hydro application. Her Elemental Skill works as a small battery while taunting the enemies, making it safer for Ayaka to attack. That same Elemental Skill also continuously applies Hydro on the enemies.

Additionally, Ayaka can greatly benefit from Mona’s Elemental Burst. Not only will it help freeze enemies (and boost Ayaka’s Critical Rate), but it will also amplify Ayaka’s Elemental Burst damage.

Xingqiu

Xingqiu Genshin

Xingqiu is one of the best 4-star supports in the game. He works well with almost everyone because of his amazing Hydro application, as well as the damage on his Elemental Burst. Xingqiu's Elemental Skill is also useful in conjunction with Ayaka. It generates a decent amount of energy, protects his teammates, and applies Hydro to any enemy they touch.

Barbara

Barabara inside the Favonius Church

Barbara is a good addition to Ayaka’s team. Her Elemental Skill applies Hydro to any enemy Ayaka touches while healing her for good measure. It also provides minor Stamina reduction, to help Ayaka use her Charged attacks more. Finally, Barbara’s Elemental Burst can always save the day when Ayaka’s HP dangerously drops.

Yelan

Genshin Impact Yelan

Similar to Xingqiu, Yelan also provides a large Hydro DMG through her Elemental Burst. However, she lacks the defensive value the Guhua Disciple has. In return for this lacking, Yelan delivers a far larger DPS, which will make Ayaka + Yelan a formidable combo on the battlefield.

Sangonomiya Kokomi

kokomi in genshin impact

Kokomi is not only excellent with Ayaka for her Hydro application, but she's also a great alternative for the Morgana team comp. With Kokomi in the team, players can now use Shenhe instead of Diona as the healer slot is now filled.

Kamisato Ayato

ayato in genshin impact

Ayato is an excellent DPS himself, but there's nothing stopping the siblings from battling together. Ayato offers a large AoE of Hydro through his ultimate, which will make it easier for Ayaka to maintain permafreeze on the enemies. The head of the Kamisato clan also increases Normal Attack DMG, which will be beneficial for Ayaka, even if she mainly works with Charged Attack.

Melt Team

Bennett and Xiangling from Genshin Impact

Although Cryo users don’t fully benefit from the Melt Elemental reaction, it's still amazing to use this reaction to amplify damage. For Ayaka to use the Melt reaction, she needs a Pyro character alongside her.

RELATED: Genshin Impact: Mistakes Players Make When Using Bennett

As for the other two characters on the team, players can opt for another Pyro and a Cryo user for Elemental Resonance. Pyro Resonance will increase the team's ATK, while Cryo Resonance will enhance Ayaka's Critical Rate.

Hu Tao

Genshin Impact Hu Tao with her skill active

Hu Tao and Ayaka may seem superfluous as they both excel as a DPS. However, Hu Tao and Ayaka can be a great combo. The Funeral Parlor Director does insane damage when her Elemental Skill is active, but it has a seven seconds downtime. While waiting for her cooldown, Travelers need to fill it with a rotation of support or with a Sub-DPS.

The Cryo Princess can be a great Sub-DPS in these seven seconds. She can deal reverse-Melt whenever Hu Tao's Spirit Blossom triggers on the enemy. Meanwhile, when Ayaka uses her Elemental Burst, players can switch to Hu Tao to deal multiple Melt damage.

Yanfei

Yanfei winking

Yanfei is like a mix of Klee and Ningguang. Yanfei wields the Pyro vision (like Klee), and her playstyle revolves around a specific Charged Attacks sequence (like Ningguang). Yanfei doesn't have any downtime, so she can stay on the field endlessly. However, because Yanfei is a Pyro unit, she needs Elemental Reactions to meet her maximum potential.

Just like with Hu Tao, Ayaka and Yanfei are a duo to deal multiple Melt damage. Furthermore, Ayaka's Elemental Skill is also a great help to fill Yanfei's Elemental Burst.

Xiangling

Xiangling looking into the sky

Xiangling is one of the best Pyro supports in the game. Her Pyro application can help create massive damage. Neither her Elemental Skill nor her Elemental Burst requires her to be active on the field. With her Elemental Skill, Xiangling will summon Guoba, who will act as a turret and deal Pyro damage. Meanwhile, her Elemental Burst will stay active even if Xiangling is swapped out.

However, all these positives also come with a negative. Xiangling has so-so energy generation, while her Elemental Burst requires a lot of energy. Thus, players should equip Xiangling with some Energy Recharge.

Bennett

Bennet during his Hang-out Event

Everyone's favorite Pyro character, Bennett, can be a good addition to Ayaka’s team, as he can heal while significantly boosting her damage.

He can also apply Pyro on enemies (albeit poorly) to help Ayaka deal Melt damage, making him a perfect fit for a team focused on this reaction. Bennett’s Elemental skill has a low cooldown, so it helps serve as a small battery as well.

Geo Team

Geo team to pair with Ayaka

Geo characters might not add any Elemental Reactions abilities to Ayaka's team, but they are sturdy strong when it comes to better shields or more damage.

Zhongli

From Zhongli's teaser

Zhongli without a doubt is the best shielder right now in Genshin Impact. In addition to his unbreakable shield, Zhongli can be a better support with the 4-Tenacity of the Millelith artifacts.

Zhongli's Elemental Skill can easily trigger the 4-set artifact's effect, which grants Ayaka 20% additional ATK. Furthermore, his Elemental Burst hits hard and provides a few seconds of crowd control, perfect for an emergency escape.

Albedo

Albedo during his teaser

Albedo is another Geo character that can fit in with almost everyone. His Elemental Skill deals massive damage while Albedo is off-field. He is also one of the easiest characters to build, considering one of his best-in-slot weapons is a 3-star weapon, and the stat that he needs is Defense, which is easy to get.

RELATED: Genshin Impact: Mistakes Players Make When Using Albedo

With Albedo, Ayaka will continuously deal additional damage every 2 seconds. She will create Crystallize reactions, which offer some additional protection. Albedo will also provide 125 Elemental Mastery to the party every time he uses his Elemental burst.

Anemo Crowd Controllers

Genshin Impact Anemo crowd controllers

Any team composition that is built to trigger reactions should definitely have at least one Anemo character in it. Not only do they make reactions easier, but they are also the best to crowd control enemies.

Venti

From Venti's teaser

Venti’s supportive abilities are unparalleled. He provides endless crowd control to smaller enemies while dealing decent damage. Not only that, but Venti is also an Anemo character. This means he can provide resistance reduction if equipped with 4-Viridescent Venerer.

The Anemo Archon also has an amazing energy regeneration. If built right, he can keep his Elemental Burst up 100% of the time, which makes any fight a breeze. He's a great option to use in the Freeze composition described above.

Kazuha

From Kazuha's teaser

Kazuha was a pleasant surprise in Genshin Impact. Just like Venti, he can crowd control enemies, reduce their resistance, and deal a considerable amount of damage. However, Kazuha's unique supportive ability lies in his passive. Through this skill, Kazuha can grant Ayaka additional Cryo damage if he is built on Elemental Mastery.

Sucrose

Sucrose showcase

Sucrose is good for any team composition that relies on Elemental reactions. She provides a decent amount of Elemental Mastery and helps her team deal more damage through reactions. This is perfect for Ayaka in Melt composition. Sucrose is also an Anemo character, so she can reduce the enemy's resistance, and offers great crowd control with her kit.

Cryo Resonance Enablers

Genshin Impact Cryo Resonance enablers

Cryo units have the easiest access to score Critical Hits, simply because of their Elemental Resonance. Some of these characters also offer a Critical Rate bonus.

Shenhe

shenhe in genshin impact

Shenhe is undoubtedly one of the best characters to pair with Ayaka in her Genshin Impact team comp. She can largely increase Ayaka Cryo DMG based on her total ATK. She's not a good DPS herself, but she's a top-tier buffer and a decent debuffer.

Chongyun

chongyun genshin impact

Chongyun is an underrated Sub-DPS because of his limitations. His Elemental Skill, Chonghua's Layered Frost, creates an ice field that infuses melee weapons with Cryo. This causes Chongyun to be incompatible with some characters like Razor and Keqing.

However, this infusion is not an issue with Ayaka, as she needs the Cryo infusion anyway. With Chongyun, Ayaka can gain an extra 15% Critical Rate via Cryo Resonance, 15% skill cooldown reduction, and a small boost in ATK speed. Furthermore, every 15s, Chongyun also reduces the enemy's Cryo resistance.

Diona

From Diona teaser

Since Ayaka is a Cryo user, having Another Cryo on her team activates the Cryo Resonance. This will give Ayaka 15% more Crit Rate, allowing her even more damage potential. Additionally, Diona can shield Ayaka and heal her with her Elemental Skill and Burst. The Kätzlein's Elemental Skill also makes a decent battery, especially if Diona is equipped with Sacrificial or Favonius Bow.

Kaeya

Keaya's inside the Abyss Domain

Kaeya is one of the most underrated characters in Genshin Impact. This Cavalry Captain is often overlooked, despite having the potential to be a great damage dealer. Furthermore, Kaeya also makes a great Cryo support. His Elemental Skill generates a decent amount of energy, so he can be a good battery for Ayaka.

Similar to Xiangling, Kaeya's Elemental Burst also persist when he's swapped out. This means that Ayaka can stay active while enjoying the additional damage from Kaeya's Elemental Burst.

Rosaria

Genshin Impact Rosaria

Just like Kaeya and Diona, Rosaria can create Cryo Resonance with Ayaka. This Favonius Nun is also one of the best when it comes to generating energy. While Rosaria's Elemental Burst may not be as practical as Kaeya's, Rosaria is equipped with a supportive passive.

Rosaria can pass on 15% of her Critical Rate to her teammates after she cast her Elemental Burst. If Rosaria is built on Critical Rate, Ayaka can practically play without any Critical Rate on herself.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
