Shenhe's team composition will mainly consist of Cryo units, as this Genshin Impact character is specifically designed to support this Element. With her Elemental Skill, Shenhe can grant damage bonuses to the team according to her Attack. So the key build for Shenhe in Genshin Impact is to stack as much Attack as possible. However, it's important to note that this damage buff is only triggered if players deal Cryo damage.
Unfortunately, other than in a Cryo party, she doesn't fit well anywhere else. Therefore, when creating a team for Shenhe, players have to be aware of who will benefit from her Skill, and who won't. Here are some examples of the best teammates for Shenhe in Genshin Impact.
Cryo DPS
Since Shenhe’s role is to exclusively be a Cryo support, players must team her with units that bear the same Vision. It is best to team her with two Cryo characters and one utility unit that can further amplify their icy damage.
Chongyun
As a sub-DPS, now is the time for Chongyun to shine. Chongyun has always been an amazing Cryo support. Unfortunately, every Cryo DPS in Genshin Impact has a better pair from another Element.
The Exorcist's key feature is the ice infusion granted via his Elemental Skill. Previously, no character needed this Genshin Impact ability. But as Shenhe's damage bonus is only granted on Cryo damage, having Chongyun to ensure Cryo hits is now a viable composition.
Ayaka
With Shenhe, players would want as many Cryo hits as possible in the short duration of her Elemental Skill (which is 10 to 15s). Luckily, Ayaka can easily do this with her multi-hit Elemental Burst. Other than that, her Charged Attack will hit three times in a small AoE. Do players can also use this move if her Burst is unavailable.
Ganyu
Ganyu's Charged Attack is not ideal for Shenhe as players would want to do the party rotation as fast as possible. However, there's no doubt that Chongyun's auntie will greatly boost the Qilin's damage. Ganyu can also further help the team with her Elemental Burst, where it boosts Cryo damage by 20%.
Anemo Elemental Absorption
Since Shenhe can effectively boost Cryo damage, Anemo units can also join in the fun. To do this, they simply have to absorb the Element with their ability. If the Anemo characters are equipped with 4-Viridescent Venerer, they can boost the party's overall DPS by reducing the enemies’ Cryo resistance.
Kazuha
Kazuha is an outstanding support or sub-DPS in Genshin Impact. His utility shines if he's paired with Cryo, Pyro, Electro, or Hydro units. After using his Elemental Skill, the Samurai can plunge down and deal damage based on the Element he Swirled. So if Shenhe applies icy aura with her ability, then Kazuha uses his Skill, his plunge will deal Cryo damage. Because he deals Cryo damage, Kazuha too will benefit from Shenhe's damage buff.
Other than that, after triggering Swirl, Kazuha will grant an Elemental damage bonus according to the Element he Swirled. So if the team consists of three Cryo characters, the entire team will benefit from this Cryo damage boost.
Sucrose
Unlike Kazuha, Sucrose can't absorb Element with her Elemental Skill. She also doesn't provide damage bonuses when she Swirls. However, that doesn't mean that players should neglect her.
When she uses her Elemental Burst, Sucrose can deal massive damage while controlling monsters. If this ability absorbs Cryo Element, then it will also deal Cryo damage. When this happens, Sucrose will benefit from Shenhe's damage buff.
Venti
When Venti uses his Elemental Burst, Wind's Grand Ode, he can easily absorb Elements to the wind vortex. Then, Venti will deal damage that corresponds with the absorbed Element.
So if he's dealing Cryo damage, Venti will greatly amplify Shenhe’s damage buff while endlessly controlling enemies. Not only that, but the Anemo Archon will also refund 15 Energy to all Cryo units in the party, making him one of the best batteries in the game.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
