One of the most useful activities in Genshin Impact is the Expedition system, which unlocks at Adventure Rank 14.
Expeditions are missions that players can send their characters on to earn a variety of rewards, including crafting materials, cooking ingredients, and Genshin Impact's Mora currency. Players can choose how long the Expedition will take, with longer missions granting better and more numerous rewards. Any character can be sent on an Expedition, but some will return sooner than others.
Best Characters for Expeditions in Genshin Impact
Players should try and make sure that they've always got characters out on Expeditions while exploring in Genshin Impact. This is easy to achieve, as any character can go on an Expedition and they can still be used in regular gameplay when dispatched.
Players can dispatch their characters on Expeditions for 4, 8, 12, or 20 hours, but the 20-hour Expeditions are the recommended choice. There are five characters in Genshin Impact that have Passive Talents that make them faster at completing Expeditions than the rest, but only when used in their preferred nation. Players who have these characters should make sure that they're using them for Expeditions as much as possible:
- Bennett - Mondstadt
- Fischl - Mondstadt
- Chongyun - Liyue
- Keqing - Liyue
- Kujou Sara - Inazuma
These characters will reduce the time of an Expedition by 25%, making it even more sensible to pick the longer Expeditions for the best rewards.
Long-Term Expeditions Strategy in Genshin Impact
By the time players have reached Adventure Rank 36 in Genshin Impact, they'll be able to dispatch 5 Expeditions at once. This means that players who have all of the characters listed above will be able to use them exclusively, provided they don't mind having two in each nation, and one in Inazuma.
While picking Expedition rewards can depend heavily on what a player needs, there are some that are more valuable in general.
