Yanfei, the legal advisor from Liyue is a new 4-star character in Genshin Impact. This bearer of Pyro vision has proven worthy to be a main DPS. However, despite her ideal to master the pen and the sword, Yanfei is not very suitable as a support.
Yanfei's father is an adeptus, which also makes her one. But, Yanfei is one of the rare adeptus that has no contract with the Geo Archon. Yet, she has played her own role in keeping the peace there. Being adept in both helping and fighting, Yanfei definitely deserves to be built properly to maximize her potential.
Yanfei's talent overview
Yanfei's build completely relies on her charge attack. Her skill, passive, and burst are also designed to help Yanfei deal more damage with it. Yanfei can stack up to three Scarlet Seals when she uses normal attacks. When players use Yanfei's charge attack while she has Scarlet Seals, the seals will be consumed and her attack will deal more damage and consume less stamina.
Yanfei's skill grants her maximum stacks of Scarlet Seals, while her elemental burst grants her one Scarlet Seal every second. Yanfei's kit clearly helps her to spam charge attacks.
Yanfei is similar to Ningguang in her playstyle, however, she is not as easy to build. First, Yanfei's burst requires more energy than Ningguang's. Furthermore, Yanfei can't produce as much energy as Ningguang.
Unlike Ningguang that can use her charge attack without stamina, Yanfei's version requires stamina consumption. However, this can be eased by having her first constellation. Her fourth constellation grants Yanfei a shield every time she uses her burst. However, the major increase in her overall DPS lies in her sixth and final constellation. With it, this legal advisor will gain an extra maximum Scarlet Seal; this means she can have up to four Scarlet Seals instead of three.
Best Artifacts for Yanfei
Yanfei is a Pyro character, this means players can build her for Melt or Vaporize reactions. These reactions are currently the best in damage. However, players can also opt to play Yanfei without them. In both cases, players should use Atk/Pyro/Crit as their main stats. But for the artifact sets, there are some variations to keep in mind.
4-Crimson Witch
Crimson Witch is the best for Melt (or Vaporize) comp. Of course, it ranks on top because of the 4-set effect. Yet, it is pretty mediocre without elemental reactions.
4-Retracting Bolide
Yanfei is all about her charge attacks. Her kit is built around it. Retracting Bolide is an excellent choice if she has 100% shield uptime. This set is the second-best in both reaction and non-reaction builds.
4-Wanderer's Troupe
The four-set effect of Wanderer's Troupe boosts charge attacks by 35%. This is perfect for Yanfei since she will be using charge attacks during her whole fight. Another addition is the Elemental Mastery that will further boost her Melt damage. But, this set is not very good without elemental reactions.
2-Crimson Witch + 2-Gladiator's Finale
A hybrid build of 2-Crimson and 2-Gladiator gives Yanfei some additional stats that will help her in every fight. This is great for an easy build. Although it's not as recommended as the others, it's actually pretty good if players are playing without elemental reactions.
4-Lavawalker
Since Yanfei is a Pyro Catalyst user, she can apply Pyro with her normal and charge attacks. Her enemies will continuously be affected by Pyro, which will increase her damage by 35% against them. It is also the best build if players are playing without elemental reactions.
Best Weapons for Yanfei
A character won't be up to much without a suitable weapon that can bring out the best in them. Which weapons should Yanfei equip?
Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds, Memory of Dust, or Skyward Atlas
Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds is the best 5-star weapon for Yanfei. Other than that, Memory of Dust is also an excellent choice if players can maintain 100% shield up time. Of course, Skyward Atlas is also a great choice for Yanfei.
The Widsith, Solar Pearl
The Widsith has a passive that can easily be used by Yanfei. Either it's extra attack, damage, or Elemental Mastery, Yanfei can use them all. Both the Widsith and Solar Pearl have Crit as their substat, helping players build her Critical.
Mappa Mare or Eye of Perception
These two weapons are quite on par with each other. Mappa Mare is better if players are playing with reactions while Eye of Perception is better when playing without reactions. Mappa Mare is also the best F2P weapon for Yanfei.
Best Teammates for Yanfei
Yanfei will not be tackling Genshin Impact's many challenges alone, and she will need to be supported by characters that enhance her performance as a DPS.
Xingqiu, Fischl, or Ganyu
Xingqiu, Fischl, or Ganyu are great for Yanfei because they can create elemental reactions with her. With Xingqiu, Yanfei can deal Vaporize. With Fischl, she can deal Overload. And with Ganyu, Yanfei will constantly be able to deal Melt.
Zhongli, or Albedo
Both Zhongli and Albedo are great supports that can fit with any team. With Zhongli, Yanfei can easily maintain the effect of 4-Retracting Bolide and also the five-star weapon Memory of Dust. While with Albedo, his skill will boost the team damage overall while he's not on the field.
Venti or Sucrose
Venti and Sucrose can help Yanfei collect enemies in one spot and drive her attacks to be more effective. In addition, if players use 4-Viridescent Venerer, they will also help Yanfei by reducing enemies' Pyro resistance.
Bennett or Diona
Both Bennett and Diona are great for Yanfei. Bennett's burst is amazing for healing and attack buff. While Diona can shield Yanfei while providing Cryo applications that will help the DPS deal more Melt damage.
