Mona is a complex Genshin Impact character that can be built with many different Artifacts or Weapons, but there's one key to building her that has nothing to do with in-game obtainable items. Here's how players can get the best use out of Mona in their party.

Genshin Impact's main draw as an action-adventure RPG is the massive array of characters that can be won through its gacha game, also known as Wishing. This is the only current way to acquire Mona, a Hydro user who wields a catalyst for her weapon of choice. Unlike many other characters, there's no one straightforward way to build her because there are a lot of stats that can boost her Hydro attacks. However, there are a few tips and tricks that can help players make Mona into the best fighter she can be.

Updated December 4, 2021, by Nahda Nabiilah: Genshin Impact continuously releases new equipment for Travelers to use, whether it's new weapons, artifacts, or characters, the updated roster often causes a shift in the meta. For example, in Version 2.3, Albedo has both new best-in-slot weapon and artifact. As for Mona, her best build changes came in Genshin Impact 2.0, along with the release of Inazuma. The Electro region initially provides two new artifacts to collect: Emblem of Severed Fate and Shimenawa's Reminiscence. One of them is Mona's best-in-slot equipment. Considering the new material, this article has been updated to give players a better, more comprehensive guide to their Mona build.

Main DPS Mona Build in Genshin Impact

To play Mona as a main DPS, the focus is for her to deal damage with maximum field time. Heart of Depths is the best option for this role.

Because Mona gains Hydro DMG bonus from Energy Recharge, one of the most common questions around is, "Energy Recharge or Attack for Mona?" The answer is simple: For DPS Mona, Attack gives better damage output. But for Support Mona, Energy Recharge is better for a more frequent buff via Elemental Burst.

Main DPS Mona Artifacts

Main Stat:

  • Timepiece: Attack%
  • Goblet: Hydro DMG Bonus%
  • Headwear: Critical Rate or Damage%

Artifact Set:

  1. 4-Heart of Depths
  2. 2-Heart of Depths + 2-Noblesse Oblige
  3. 4-Emblem of Severed Fate

Main DPS Mona Weapon

  1. Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds
  2. Memory of Dust
  3. Skyward Atlas
  4. The Widsith
  5. Solar Pearl
  6. Dodoco Tales
  7. Wine and Song

As a main DPS, Mona needs as much power stat as possible. With that in mind, Attack, Critical Rate, and Critical Damage are the core options.

The Widsith is the best 4-star weapon for Mona. This weapon isn't very hard to get as it's available on the Standard Banner. But for F2P, Dodoco Tales is a great bet for DPS build.

Support DPS Mona Build in Genshin Impact

The main stats that players will want to focus on when building Support Mona are Energy Recharge and Hydro Bonus Damage.

Some players choose to go full Elemental Burst buff with Noblesse Oblige Artifact. It's great for buffer Mona, but Emblem of Severed Fate is better for Sub-DPS Mona.

  2. Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds
  3. Memory of Dust
  4. The Widsith
  5. Solar Pearl
  6. Wine and Song
  7. Hakushin Ring

Unlike the main DPS build, Skyward Atlas is better than Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds. This is because Lost Prayer's passive requires Mona to be on the field as much as possible.

Because Mona isn't always on the field, The Widsith's buff will always be available whenever she is. This makes the 4-star weapon even better than it already is.

However, for F2P players who can't acquire it through the gacha game, they may have to settle for the Hakushin Ring. This weapon boosts Energy Recharge, and makes Mona an amazing support for Electro characters. Players will want to team her up with units such as Lisa, Raiden, or Beidou as they can do Elemental Damage to large areas and their ultimate attacks will continuously run after switching characters.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
