He's the best thing to ever happen to Genshin Impact's 4-star roster; Bennett or Benny (or best boy) as generally regarded by the community, makes lots of things possible in the game. When it comes to being a support, he excels in everything, making him almost a permanent addition to any party composition.

Truth be told, he can be better than even some 5-star characters due to how well-rounded he is. Benny can fill in many roles be it DPS, healer, tank, or buffer. It's all thanks to his fantastic abilities or talents. If any player hasn't jumped in on the Benny hype train yet, a guide on how to properly utilize him ought to convince.

Updated August 11, 2021, by Sid Natividad: Can't get enough of Bennett? That sounds about right. He's only necessary for plenty of optimal team compositions for the Spiral Abyss. There's also the fact that a certain Bennet talent priority needs to be followed if players want him at his best right away.

Bennett's talents are what make him shine bright in any team. Thus, this Bennett guide has been expanded to include the optimal rotations for Bennett and how he fits in a party when it comes to attack rotations. Lore-wise, Bennett's the unluckiest and clumsiest character in Genshin Impact, but with this Bennett guide, he might as well be a 5-star character when it comes to gameplay.

Talent Upgrade Cost

Bennett using Festering Desire

First things first, before players know the Bennett talent level up priority order, they have to accumulate his talent level up materials first. These are:

  1. Teachings of Resistance — 9
  2. Guide of Resistance — 63
  3. Philosophies of Resistance — 114
  4. Treasure Hoarder Insignia — 18
  5. Silver Raven Insignia — 66
  6. Golden Raven Insignia — 93
  7. Dvalin's Plume — 18
  8. Crown of Insight — 3
  9. Mora — 4,957,500

That is assuming that players want to level up all of his three active talents. If not, then simply reduce the amount by 2/3 or 1/3.

Normal Attack: Strike Of Fortune

bennett sunset

This is Bennett's normal attack, and like most other sword-based characters, he does it in a combo. For him, it would be five rapid strikes in succession. Bennett moves forward a bit while executing his attacks though, and can easily stagger or knock down small enemies since his swings are wide.

The charge is a bit different as it's a rapid sword swing that consumes stamina and deals considerable amounts of damage but leaves him vulnerable initially. Meanwhile, the plunging attack is the same as other sword users'. It's not Bennett's main way of dealing damage though, so feel free to set this one aside when it comes to leveling talents.

Normal Attack (Base level)

  • 1-Hit DMG - 44.5%
  • 2-Hit DMG - 42.7%
  • 3-Hit DMG - 54.6%
  • 4-Hit DMG - 59.7
  • 5-Hit DMG - 71.9%

Charged Attack (Base level)

  • Charged Attack DMG - 55.9%+60.7%
  • Charged Attack Stamina Cost - 20.0

Plunge Attack (Base level)

  • Plunge DMG - 63.9%
  • Low/High Plunge DMG - 128%/160%

Elemental Skill: Passion Overload

Genshin Impact Pyro Bennett Sword

Passion Overload is Bennett's Elemental Skill and it's a pretty straightforward ability. It deals pyro damage in melee range and most of the time, only hits one target due to the small area of effect. It's useful for applying a quick pyro status, especially for melt compositions. The short cooldown helps a ton for sustaining that purpose.

The damage dealt for the pressed variant of the skill isn't that high, so it's best to not rely on it, even if Bennett comes equipped with artifacts that increase pyro damage. Other characters can simply do better pyro damage at lower investments. Unless players are setting up Bennett as the main damage dealer, this one isn't too much of a priority to level up.

Hold Variant Of Passion Overload Makes Bennett A DPS

However, Passion Overload has a hold variant, and it's what gives Bennett a good potential for backup DPS or damage dealer. It charges up the skill and then releases it in a large-AoE fire cyclone that hits hard, but knocks Bennett backward.

The hold variant comes in two levels. Level 1 hits twice and deals considerably more damage compared to just pressing the skill. Level 2 does three strikes with the third one resulting in an explosion which is why Bennett gets knocked back. This knockback effect has no damage though. Each hold level takes a second to reach.

Press variant (Base level)

  • Press DMG - 138%
  • Press CD - 5.0s

Hold variant (Base level)

  • Charge Level 1 DMG - 84.0%+92.0%
  • Charge Level 2 DMG - 88.0%+96.0%
  • Explosion DMG - 132%
  • Charge CD - 7.5s/10.0

Elemental Burst: Fantastic Voyage

best bennett build

Fantastic Voyage is Bennett's bread and butter, as it's what makes him one of the most desirable support characters in Genshin Impact. If activated, Bennett lays down a circular field of effect. Each player in this field gets a damage boost if their HP is above 70 percent. If it's below 70 percent, then they get rapid and lifesaving HP regeneration instead.

The Burst's Energy cost is also low (60) and lasts for 12 seconds with a 15-second cooldown. Bennett usually gets his Energy back ready for Fantastic Voyage before the cooldown ends, even with just small amounts of Energy Recharge so players using him need to make sure they spam this Burst off-cooldown.

This Should Be The Main Priority Talent

Since it's Bennett's most powerful and useful ability, players need to make sure that they level it up first. They'll always be using it, as it's also the reason why Bennett is sought after in many parties. The buff from Fantastic Voyage is irreplaceable.

It's practically a two-for-one ability, and those are hard to come by in Genshin Impact. Bennett requires the Resistance guide or talent ascension book in order to level up this one. Take it to at least level 8 or 9 before giving other talents a consideration.

Bennett Benefits From High HP And ATK

Another way to increase the effects of Fantastic Voyage without relying too much on talent leveling is by taking advantage of how it works. Fantastic Voyage's healing aspect is tied to Bennett's HP. The higher his HP, the better the HP regeneration rate.

Consequently, Fantastic Voyage's ATK boost aspect relies on Bennett's ATK stat. Higher ATK stats mean higher damage buff. Thus, it pays well to give Bennett some ATK and HP artifacts, especially if he's a support. Generally, the best artifact for him would be the Noblesse Oblige set which further strengthens Fantastic Voyage.

It Makes Him A Viable Healer

The funny thing about Genshin Impact is that Bennett has become the best healer in the game due to Fantastic Voyage. It's reliable and allows players to tank enemy attacks just by standing in the effect field.

The low cooldown also ensures that characters never run out of party HP. Compared to Qiqi, or Jean, or Barbara and their less available healing spells, Bennett's Fantastic Voyage is a godsend.

Stats

  • Skill DMG - 233%
  • Continuous Regeneration Per Sec - 6.00% max hp+577
  • ATK Bonus Ratio - 56%
  • Duration - 12.0s
  • CD - 15.0s
  • Energy Cost - 60

How To Utilize Bennett's Active Talents

Bennett on attack build

Using Bennett's talent is simple enough, so players normally make him the main buffer or healer of the party. Thus, before every battle starts, players will usually have to:

  1. Lay down Bennett's Elemental Burst
  2. Switch to the main DPS character
  3. Stay inside Bennett's Elemental Burst circle while doing attacks to maximize DPS

The above assumes that the party is at optimal health and has full and ready Elemental Burst energy reserves. Otherwise, it can be used for healing. If the party's energy reserves are not full, then simply spam Bennett's Elemental Skill in order to generate energy for him or the party until everyone's Elemental Burst energy is full again.

Best Teams For Bennett's Talents

Genshin Impact Bennett Female Traveler Domain

Granted, Bennett fits well in any team due to his general usefulness, particularly as a healer. However, some teams just can't live or function properly without him, such as:

Any Pyro DPS character, Bennett,  Xingqiu, Any Anemo Support Character

The idea behind this team is to take advantage of Bennett as a pyro character. The first slot can go to a main damage dealer such as Hu Tao or Diluc, or perhaps Xiangling if you only own a 4-star pyro DPS. In any case, a team composed like this is bound to be a high ATK party thanks to Bennett's stacking buffs.

Any Main DPS character, Bennett, Mona, Any Support character that debuffs enemy resistance

For this kind of team, the focus is dealing as much damage as possible. That's easy with Bennett's huge ATK buff. Combined with Mona's additional damage buff using her Elemental Burst, this team ensures the highest potential damage possible for whoever's the main DPS.

Passive: Rekindle

genshin-impact-bennett-3

Now, on to passive talents. Bennett's first ascension-locked passive talent is called Rekindle and it needs the first Ascension Phase. That means leveling Bennett up to level 20 and then Ascending him.

RELATED: Genshin Impact: Things You Didn't Know About Venti

It's not that awesome as a talent though, as Rekindle only shortens the cooldown for Passion Overload, Bennett's Elemental Skill, by 20% Still, it's useful enough for those who rely on Bennett as a sub-DPS or as a consistent pyro applicator.

Passive: Fearnaught

genshin impact traveler and bennett

Fearnaught is Bennett's other ascension-locked passive talent, and it provides a good synergy between his Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst. Fearnaught makes it so that Fantastic Voyage's effect field also further reduces Bennett's Passion Overload cooldown by 50 percent. That brings it down to just two seconds.

In addition to that, Bennett is also immune to Passion Overload's hold attack knockback effect while sanding on Fantastic Voyage. DPS Bennetts would do well leveling up Fantastic Voyage alongside Passion Overload. In order to get this talent, Bennett needs to be in his 4th Ascension Phase, meaning level 70+.

  • Cooldown is reduced by 50%
  • Bennett will not be launched by the effects of Charge Level 2

Passive: It Should Be Safe

Bennett at night in genshin impact

Lastly, It Should Be Safe is Bennett's final passive talent, which is available right off the bat. This one is the weakest and least useful of the bunch as it doesn't have any combat bonuses.

It merely reduces Bennett's expedition duration by 25 percent. That is assuming players subject Bennett to that kind of insult, as most characters who are sent on expeditions are usually Kaeya, Lisa, and Amber. Don't lump Bennett with those individuals.
