The elusive and mysterious master of the sea, Beidou, is often overlooked by Genshin Impact players. The iconic miHoYo character is one of the dozens of playable powerful heroes across the world of Teyvat. Though many don't include her in their main party, Beidou is a force to be reckoned with in Genshin Impact. Her Electro DMG output is incredible, but the key to mastering her abilities is patience.
Beidou's life as a pirate gives her lots of knowledge of life at sea, and how to deal with a foe or two. She's a powerful character not to be underestimated.

The reason behind that is the fact that both Dendro and Electro Elements enjoy a unique set of Reactions that gives their characters an advantage during combat. Players are starting to pick up Genshin Impact Electro units to experiment with these new features and Beidou is a strong Electro character that can effectively work in these environments. But more people playing Beidou means more mistakes are bound to happen. For that, this article will be updated to include the possible mistakes players could make when using Beidou.
9 Not Just A DPS
Beidou can output an amazing amount of DMG as a Sub-DPS. Her kit allows her to spread Electro DMG incredibly quickly, which lets other characters get combo status effects such as Electro-charged, Quicken, and Aggravate onto enemies.
Beidou can also switch in to use her counter ability to absorb large amounts of DMG other characters can't sustain. Many teams benefit from having a character like Beidou that can do so much for her team, such as shielding, applying Electro, high off-field DMG, and shredding enemies’ Electro resistance.
8 Using The Wrong Claymore
Beidou is known to be versatile when it comes to wielding Claymores. Her flexibility allows her to effectively choose among a decent amount of weapons that can further improve her performance in her roles. When operating Beidou as an off-field DPS, Beidou needs a Claymore like Wolf’s Gravestone or Blackcliff Slasher. A weapon that boosts her DMG stats and ensures she’ll inflict more DMG.
Meanwhile, if Beidou’s role was to trigger Electro-charged, Rainslasher becomes a more fitting Claymore since it enhances her Elemental Reaction. Failing to match the right weapon with Beidou’s role heavily affects the team’s performance overall.
7 Not Building The Right Artifacts
Finding the right artifacts for Beidou is the hardest task players can face while assigning her role in the team comp. Beidou can work with many artifacts set variations, like building her with 4-Noblesse Oblige if she’s operating as a Support/Sub-DPS and her job is to inflict a high DMG while maintaining an ATK% team buff.
Meanwhile, choosing 4-Emblem of Severed Fate will boost her personal damage, but players would be sacrificing the Noblesse buff that will increase the team's overall DPS. The same goes for the other builds, if Beidou is supposed to operate as a shielder or an Elemental Reaction trigger, it is best to find artifacts that complement this type of gameplay on the battlefield.
6 Don't Rush Her Counter Skill
Beidou is a slow and steady wins-the-race kind of character. Her counter is one of her most powerful attacks. When at full charge, it releases a powerful slash, dealing DMG right back at her enemies. This also adds the Electro status to enemies, as well as to Beidou herself. While thunder may be slower than lightning, Beidou is a powerful storm to encounter on the battlefield.
It’s important to understand and learn her timing when countering with her Skill. Perfecting such a powerful skill is crucial to double the DMG she can inflict when using her Elemental Skill.
5 She Operates Best As An Off-Field Sub-DPS
Because Beidou is playable as both a DPS and Support, she's definitely a team player. The ability to transition from a total shielder with minimal usage in her team comps into a total beast that wrecks Electro DMG everywhere makes Beidou a must-build character in Genshin Impact.
Having said that, the best way to play Beidou is as an off-field Sub-DPS in Genshin Impact. Beidou doesn’t need any field time, giving her team more time to perform better on during the battle. All she needs is around two seconds to cast her talents then players can enjoy her Stormbreaker’s Electro DMG traveling through enemies triggering high Reactions and DMG.
4 Miss Out On Her Elemental Reactions
Beidou is a force that should be recognized more by Genshin Impact fans. The amount of flexibility she has should earn her a place among many team compositions, especially the teams that need Electro users inside their ranks.
Beidou can easily trigger many Electro Reactions like the Electro-charged and Overload Reactions, as long as the team’s driver keeps using their Normal attacks. She can also help a lot with the Dendro Reactions in Genshin Impact since her Lightning Discharges will keep jumping between enemies, endlessly applying Electro.
3 Don't Overlook Any Of Her Stats
Beidou is one of the few characters that can work with most of the available stats in Genshin Impact. HP, ATK, Energy Recharge, Elemental Mastery, CRIT DMG, or CRIT Rate, it all depends on what role Beidou takes in her team composition.
For example, Beidou's bread and butter when it comes to being a Sub-DPS are ATK and CRIT. Throw in some added Electro DMG into the mix and Beidou will be a beast on the battlefield. However, these stats don’t work on Beidou when she’s operating in another role, like a Genshin Impact shielder. For that role, Beidou is better off stacking more HP% on her, giving her artifacts and weapons that boost HP stat in particular.
2 Don't Fret About Status Effects
Facing a horde of enemies can be challenging for any character, especially when they add status effects that create debuffs. When using Beidou, players should let that fear slide.
When Beidou has Pyro or Cryo attached to her then she charges up her counter fully, the Pyro or Cryo status will react with her self-inflicted Electro status. This clears those status effects from Beidou. However, it’s important to note that Beidou can’t cleanse Hydro status.
1 Don't Hold Back On Ascending Her
Making sure Beidou reaches the highest possible level, improves many of her abilities. For a starter, her Base HP will be maxed out which means she will be able to get a higher Max HP when she’s operating as a shielder. Secondly, all Electro Elemental Reactions are Transformative Reactions, which means they can only be enhanced by leveling up the triggering character or giving stacking Elemental Mastery on them. Even Shatter, an Elemental Reaction that Beidou can trigger with her Claymore is also affected by her level. For that reason, it is important to max Beidou’s level if players are planning to use her services.
