Skins and alternate outfits have been the talk of the town for fans of miHoYo's massively popular RPG Genshin Impact in recent weeks. Between the 2.4 update adding skins for Liyue's Keqing and Ningguang and recent leaks hinting at skins for Mondstadt characters in Diluc and Fischl, the game's fanbase has seen no shortage of speculation and fan theories on other skins and outfits that could be added to the open-world RPG. Now, it seems like fans won't have to wait long for the next suite of unique cosmetics.

Character skins have largely taken a backseat throughout Genshin Impact's development since the game released in September of 2020. The breakout hit RPG didn't see its first skins for some of the game's growing roster of iconic characters until the 1.6 update added summer-themed outfits for Barbara and Jean. Now, with the 2.4 update confirmed to be adding formal dress skins for Ningguang and Keqing, skins have once again become a hot topic and miHoYo announced today that four Mondstadt characters would be receiving alternate outfits in a future update.

Genshin Impact announced via Twitter on Tuesday that alternate outfits would be added in a future update for Jean, Amber, Rosaria, and Mona. While some of the outfits revealed in the tweet are only minor alterations to a character's design, unlike the major changes in the game's premium skins, other characters like Rosaria see a significant shift in their wardrobe for the upcoming skins. No release date was revealed for the launch of the alternate outfits with the accompanying post on miHoYo's 'HoyoLab' Forums simply telling fans to wait for an announcement to come at a later time.

While no information was given about whether the new outfits would be free or premium, the relatively minor changes to several of the included outfits would lean towards the skins being free. The inclusion of "default outfits being retained" within the HoYoLab post would suggest that miHoYo is positioning the new skins as redesigns rather than completely new skins for these characters. Previous leaks have also suggested Mondstadt characters would be the next to receive skins following the release of Keqing and Ningguang's formal attire.

Genshin Impact players have been treated to a plethora of both and upcoming content, as the game has kicked off 2022 with a bang. Between the current patch featuring the return of the popular Lantern Rite event and miHoYo recently confirming the highly-anticipated Yae Miko, Genshin Impact has already set up its first few updates of the year with plenty for fans of the game to look forward to. Genshin Impact was one of the biggest names in the gaming industry throughout 2021 and its early 2022 is shaping up to continue that success.

Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
