Genshin Impact has been one of the biggest games of the past year, and with the upcoming Inazuma update it will continue to expand with a new storyline, characters, quests, bosses, and more. Recently, Genshin Impact released a preview trailer for the 2.0 Inazuma update titled "The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia." Set to release on July 21, the Inazuma update will bring an entirely new adventure for Genshin Impact players.

During the previews, it was revealed that Genshin Impact will have a number of new characters appearing in Inazuma. Although it's unclear whether all of them are playable, they will play important roles in the Inazuma storyline. Fans who have paid attention to leaks over the past few months will likely have seen most of the characters, but there are a few that miHoYo was able to officially reveal. With Ayaka and Yoimiya all but confirmed, it'll be interesting to see which of the new characters will appear in future banners.

Kamisato Ayaka

Genshin Impact Ayaka Fan

Teased since the original closed beta test of Genshin Impact, Ayaka will play a critical role in the upcoming Inazuma storyline. Ayaka's character banner will come first, as she will introduce players to the region. A Cryo sword user, Ayaka's kit revolves around dealing consistent Cryo damage and has an alternate sprint like Mona. The Kamisato Clan will also be a part of the storyline as players will be able to visit the estate. Described as a kind-hearted girl, Ayaka holds the people of Inazuma close to her heart and her dedication to helping them will likely play a pivotal role when players encounter Baal.

Yoimiya

Yoimiya is another officially confirmed banner character in Genshin Impact, and will appear in August after Ayaka. Yoimiya is in charge of Naganohara Fireworks and wields a Pyro vision together with a bow. Yoimiya appears to have much faster auto-attacks than other bow users and has an explosive elemental burst. Story info regarding Yoimiya is fairly limited, but as Japanese fireworks festivals usually occur in August it's likely that her event will occur then.

Sayu

Revealed on the Genshin Impact Twitter a few months back, Sayu is a tiny ninja who is dressed in a tanuki costume. An Anemo claymore user, Sayu is also the only confirmed 4-star character in Inazuma so far. She will appear alongside Yoimiya's banner in August and has the unique ability to roll into a ball to deal damage. Sayu is associated with the Shiyuumatsu-Ban, a location in Inazuma that was originally revealed on the Genshin Impact Twitter.

Baal

Baal-Genshin

Baal, also known as the Raiden Shogun, is the current Electro Archon and presides over the region of Inazuma. Before the current storyline of Genshin Impact, a drastic event occurred which caused Baal to close off Inazuma from the rest of Teyvat. Declaring the Vision Hunt Decree, Baal seized most of the Visions in Inazuma to give to the statue of the Thousand-Armed, Hundred-Eyed God. As a result, Genshin Impact players will have to sneak into Inazuma with the help of Kazuha and Beidou. Described as a boastful and self-centered ruler, she seems to wield a sword alongside her Electro vision. Although there's no confirmation that she will be playable at any point, it's more than likely given Zhongli and Venti's status as Archons.

Thoma

Genshin-impact-tohma-2-0

Although his character model was leaked months ago, Thoma made an official appearance during the Inazuma reveal for Genshin ImpactThoma serves as the chief retainer of the Kamisato Clan, and his distinctive blonde hair stands out in Inazuma. He's described as someone who's very observant and he seems to have a red jewel around his belt, indicating a Pyro vision. However, there isn't any confirmation to whether he will be playable in the future.

Kujou Sara

Genshin-Impact-Sara-kujou

Kujou Sara serves under Baal as a bodyguard and aide that leads troops to seize Visions in Inazuma. Wielding a bow and Electro Vision, Kujou Sara acted as Baal's combat representative when Kazuha's friend challenged her. While Kazuha admires her strength, he doesn't understand why she follows Baal's oppressive rule. She is described as a Tengu Warrior and is rather charismatic despite her strength. She hasn't appeared in previous leaks and seems to be an NPC, but only time will tell if she becomes playable.

Sangonomiya Kokomi

Genshin-Impact-kokomi

Kokomi is the leader of the Sangonomiya Resistance, an organization that is opposed to Baal's suppressive Vision Hunt Decree. A wise and resourceful military advisor, Kokomi wields a Hydro vision on a ribbon attached to her chest. Kokomi didn't appear in previous Genshin Impact leaks but a very similar looking character called Mimi did lead fans to speculate that Mimi was either scrapped or replaced by Kokomi. As with other Inazuma characters, there's a chance that Kokomi will become playable, but it has yet to be officially confirmed. Kokomi's weapon has yet to be revealed but speculation points toward a catalyst.

Gorou

Gorou is the brawn of the resistance forces in Inazuma, and the general of the Sangonomiya troops in Genshin Impact. Similar to Diona, he has an anthropomorphic appearance with fox ears and a tail. A Geo bow user, Gorou's previous leaks seem to indicate a good chance of playability. He has a signature bow in the same series of weapons such as the Summit Shaper and the Vortex Vanquisher. Regardless, it'll likely be a long time before players will be able to roll for Gorou given he's only appeared recently.

Yae Miko

Yae Miko, also known as the Guuji (Chief Priest), is in charge of the Grand Narukami Shrine. On top of her beautiful appearance, she's extremely cunning and intelligent, making her highly unpredictable. During the Genshin Impact presentation, it was revealed that she will play an important role in the story as players will encounter her several times. Little has been revealed about Yae as her weapon and Vision remain a mystery, so it's hard to tell whether she will be a playable character.

Genshin Impact is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5, with a Switch version in development.
