The revival of the Lucasfilm Games brand appears to not only have opened up new possibilities for Star Wars games from other studios aside from EA, but has been sparking new rumors about potential games as well. While something like Ubisoft's open-world Star Wars game has already been officially confirmed, there have been plenty of claims that other studios are working on their own projects too. For example, Gears of War studio The Coalition.

Not too long ago, journalist Jeff Grubb claimed that the studio was not only working on the next Gears of War title, but also assisting development on Halo Infinite (which should release this fall) and working on a new IP entirely. Grubb said he had heard rumors that said IP was Star Wars, but he couldn't confirm their validity and admitted he wasn't putting much stock in them. And as of today, The Coalition itself has addressed the rumors so that it can dismiss them entirely.

In a Reddit thread regarding The Coalition's recent announcement that it is using Unreal Engine 5 for multiple Gears of War projects, one person stated that they hoped the Star Wars rumors were true. The studio's senior community manager, Shaun Akerman, responded to the user to simply state that The Coalition is not working on any such title and it has nothing to announce at this time.

While this doesn't necessarily deny that it's working on a new IP, it sounds like fans will need to rule out it being anything related to Star Wars. At the very least, the studio is certainly busy, but who knows how much longer fans will have to wait until something is actually announced. Apparently, according to Grubb, fans shouldn't expect Gears of War 6 to be announced at E3 this year.

This isn't the only Star Wars rumor to have been debunked recently. Back in April, there was a supposed leak that claimed to have information on a Star Wars: Battlefront 3. It came with what it said was an image of the background from one the game's maps, but someone quickly discovered that the leak was fake, since the image in question could be easily found elsewhere and was available to download for free.

As far as actual Star Wars games go, the next major one is Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. It was supposed to have released this spring, but it has unfortunately been delayed and currently lacks a new release window.
