Edge Magazine has apparently gotten a hold of some fancy Gears of War 3 details, despite the game having yet to be officially announced. While it's doubtful we'll see any gameplay changes that vary too far from the previous games, there will certainly be some new elements to make us return to the franchise. Little did we expect Gears of War 3 to take the battle... underwater!

Okay, right, not so big of deal, but nonetheless it appears as if Gears of War 3 will be employing some sort of underwater level. After the sinking of the last city, Jacinto, and the flooding of the Hollow, perhaps the COGs will find their way back to their lost home. Water levels are typically never anything to be proud of, but so long as there is no jumping of sharks maybe Gears 3 will be okay.

Gears of War 3 will also be introducing  mechanical suit of some kind, allowing players to trounce around like a giant robot. Other details that were revealed talk about new Locust with tentacles that can reach over cover, and a COG weapon that can launch explosives through the ground. Can't say these details are creating any driving need to play Gears of War 3 in me, but maybe I'll find it more alluring when it's in motion.

So here's to hoping that Gears of War 3 will officially be announced when Cliffy B shows up on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon this next Monday.
