Gears Tactics is a new turn-based strategy game from Splash Damage and The Coalition, serving as a prequel to the Gears of War franchise as a whole. Gears Tactics requires genuine strategy for anyone trying to play through the campaign, with the stiffest challenges coming from the game's challenging boss fights.

The first boss that Gears Tactics players will face off against is none other than the Brumak. Essentially the Locust-equivalent of a T-Rex, Brumaks are massive beasts equipped with missiles and machineguns. Beating the Brumak boss fight in Gears Tactics is no easy task if players don't go into it with a solid strategy, but luckily there are ways that players can make the battle a little easier on themselves.

Here is how to beat the Brumak boss fight in Gears Tactics.

1. Early Rounds

When players start the Brumak boss fight in Gears Tactics, two of their soldiers will be on the north side of the battlefield and two on the south. Players will have to use Gabriel Diaz, Sid Redburn, and Mikalya Dorne. August Cole is a good fourth if players have him through pre-ordering, otherwise it may be best to go with a heavy-class character instead.

The first thing players will want to do is attack the Brumak's machineguns. Destroying the machineguns won't actually do damage to the Brumak, but it will rob it of one of its attacks, in turn making the later stages of the fight go much smoother. In this first turn, it's possible to completely destroy one of the guns depending on positioning and what weapons players use. While this is going on, start sending Gabe to south side of the map so that there are three characters on one end and one on the other, preferably Sid as he's equipped with frag grenades.

Keep the characters spread out to avoid stomp damage from the Brumak. As the battle continues, move out of the way of the missile zones (donated by red flashing lights), and close any Emergence Holes using frag grenades.

2. Killing the Brumak

Prioritize Wretches over the Brumak whenever they happen to crawl out of an E-Hole, as they will do significant damage. Remember to use Overwatches on E-Holes before they open up as well, which will potentially kill a Wretch or two before they can even get in position.

When not focusing on E-Holes and Wretches, shoot the tanks on the Brumak's back. Doing this will cause the Brumak to turn around, so always alternate between one side of the battlefield and the other when possible. When the Brumak's health starts to get low, just throw everything at the tanks and ignore everything else on the battlefield, as killing the Brumak is the only requirement to winning this fight.

As pointed out in our Gears Tactics review, the fight against the Brumak and other boss fights in the game are a real highlight of the experience. Fans should feel free to experiment with different strategies to see if they can come up with a better way of taking down the beast.

Gears Tactics is out now for PC with an Xbox One version also in development.
